Zuriel was attacked by The Shadow when it attacked Heaven. He was one of the few remaining angels still alive.[1]
History
When The Shadow attacked Heaven at some unknown point The Darkness got to Zuriel and possibly killed him. When Castiel went to investigate what The Shadow has done he found Duma and Zuriel. Castiel is able to identify Zuriel and Castiel and Duma leave to find out what is happening.
It is unknown if Zuriel is alive or not.
Powers & abilities
- Angelic Possession - like all angels, Zuriel needs to possess a human vessel to walk the earth or to exist in physical form at all. He also, as an angel, needs their consent to do so.
- Immortality - As an angel he would never die unless killed, nor would he age unless rendered human by his grace being removed.
- Invulnerability - As an angel, he is invulnerable to most forms of harm. However, he is vulnerable to higher beings such as The Shadow.

As there are not even a dozen angels in Heaven, Zuriel, if he survived the Invasion of Heaven, will eventually burn out and die along with the other angels in an attempt to maintain it.

Trivia
- His fate is unknown, though as Naomi and Duma were similarly attacked and survived this leaves his status in debate. If he was killed then Heaven is even more close to falling with the limited number of angels left even smaller.
- Castiel was familiar with him as he knew who he was when finding him.
