Vernon Haskell was a magician and a close friend to Jay and Charlie.
Background
History
Haskell was apparently raised Catholic. In his hey-days, Vernon along with Charlie and Jay was a very successful magician. Due to his old age, he was unable to attract more audiences to his shows.
Season 4
A few magicians began dying in the same tricks that Jay escaped while performing. Initially Jay was a suspect himself. But when Charlie died the same way, the blame shifted to Vernon. Jay accused his old friend of using cards to kill fellow magicians. But then Charlie came back, younger. He offered a chance to become young like him which would require the deaths of the meddlesome Winchesters. Vernon wanted to take him up on his offer, but Jay killed Charlie using Charlie's very cards against him. Vernon was naturally upset and left Jay, vowing not to speak to him again.[1]
