Re: CheckUser RequestEdit
Hey Zane, I checked the IPs for the user you requested. They do not share an IP address with either of the two users you linked (although this may be due to their IP address being reset by an ISP), however, they do share an IP with Special:Contributions/NecroHo-Oh. There are also a few other peculiarities in their activity that would lead me to assume all those accounts are the same user.
Chuck said it could kill him (not everything Chuck says should automatically be assumed to be a lie). When Sam shot him in the shoulder, he was visibly ticked off, and left him significantly weakened which Amara noted. He recruited Lilith to destroy it for this very reason. And these days, admins bash regular editors to redirect things to talk pages when they don't like something, and weeks will pass without them responding at all, which cleverly allows them to get their way by default. Also, Sam, Dean, and Castiel have all lied, so should be just disregard and distrust everything they say on principle? Of course not, that would be absurd. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashketchum151 (talk • contribs)
New theme for the Supernatural WikiEdit
Mandy, the Community Manager for this wiki, and I have been working over the last couple of weeks to come up with a new theme for the Supernatural Wiki and we've finally settled on a design that we think fits the Supernatural vibe pretty well and I'd like to get your input on it.
You can find the theme here. As this is the last, and arguably the most important, season yet, we were really aiming for a simple theme that would leave distractions to a minimum and allow readers (and editors!) to focus on the amazing content that you and your team have documented.
Please feel free to poke around on that sandbox wiki and let me know what you think. I'm happy to make any changes you feel may be necessary.
RE: Theme vs BackgroundEdit
Hey Zane. So a background simply refers to the background image for a community, whereas a theme encompasses all visual aspects of the site, from background to link colors, buttons, wordmarks, etc.
Re: CheckUser QuestionEdit
Hey Zane. Yes, I can check two (or more) IP addresses to let you know if they are being used by the same person. However, this should only be used to combat spam.
This is like the fifth time. Leave Corey alone and stop bothering him with your stupid paranoia, petty urchin. You might have OCD or something. If you want to mindlessly blacklist every new user, then become a Wikia Staff yourself, but leave this poor guy alone.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Brettpartridge16 (talk • contribs)
Heya, yeah so in instances like that, where IPs are creating new accounts to agree with their proposals, I can definitely use CheckUser to confirm and then block those new accounts.
If you have a list of users you think are the same person, feel free to drop them and I can take a look for you!
The user above, for example, is using an IP address that has been used on several accounts that are indefinitely blocked. Feel free to block that account as well.
Hey Zane, super sorry for the late response to your request of checking those four IP addresses. Not sure how I missed that.
None of those IP addresses have any actual account connected to them, and they all seem to originate from different locations.
Hopefully that helps.
I don't know how to do the Discord or really what it is and neither am I interested in that. Too busy. Just know that if someone is on there as me, its really not me.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 05:14, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
I don't use discord and I have also made it known to another admin of ours, Mgdodl, that I have never used discord for any other matter. In what way are they impersonating me and causing trouble? And if I am to sign in, is it just for the sole purpose of making sure you know which user is mine specifically? Is discord and its contents something that is moderated by the team here? FTWinchester (talk) 20:22, May 25, 2020 (UTC)
Well I signed in and put this as my status
- I DON'T USE DISCORD. Verify any content with my wiki talk page to avoid problems with impersonation.
Hey Zane, sorry for my late reply. For some reason I did not receive any kind of notification about your latest message on my talk page.
I looked up the user you requested and, as far as I can tell, they do not share any similar IP addresses as any other user. This does not necessarily mean that they are a legitimate user, they may simply be using a VPN to hide their real IP.
User:Doctor49 is posting speculatory information. For example, on the World Turtle's page, he outlined the entity has achieved the a greater mass than the Earth or Universe's based on our reality's measurements and quantifications but we we don't know how big SPN's multiverse is. This is faulty because, in biblical lore, the Archangel Michael could destroy Earth but the version in the show cannot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FrodoEru (talk • contribs)
- I didn't stated the size of the multiverse, not even the universe itself, just the observable universe, the size of the Earth, the flight hight for planes and the size of the Crysler Building, people use measurements like this in fictional media all the time, there's no reason at all to think that, for example, the Chrysler Building is like, 4 meters shorter or taller in the Supernatural universe than it is in the real world, the same with earth and the observable universe, if the writers wrote those references of size in the episodes is for the fans to have at least a ideia of how big those beings are. Tell me, what's the point of adding a reference like "the world", or the Chrysler Building in the episode if they didn't wanted the fans to imagine the actual size of the structures that they mentioned?
(Also i think it was never stated that Michael can't destroy the Earth, Gabriel who is the weakest of them was able to put Sam on a time loop which affected the whole planet, imagine what Michael, the strongest of them can do? And even if he can't destroy the Earth, it dosen't matter bcs the power scaling of a character in the series is not the same as a size reference that is put in the script with the intent of giving the fans a idea of what the characters are talking about.) Anna Milton's Page LinksEdit
Hey, i was pretending to rename the page "Anna" to "Anna (Alpha and Omega)" while making the "Anna" page a redirect to "Anna Milton" and i thought i should ask you, is there any problem with it? Doctor49 (talk) 06:05, June 27, 2020 (UTC).
Hey Zane! I hope you're doing well.
Whenever you have some time could you please take a look at this forum discussion? It's been open for about three weeks now and I'd like to get your opinion on the theme/work with you to improve it.
Re: Forum postEdit
Hey! Sorry, I didn't notice that you had already told Dominic you'd be closing it on July 8th. I'm still willing to work with you on the theme if you'd like!
You'll definitely have the ability to modify the theme using your personal CSS. I've never had to rework an entire site theme using personal CSS, so I'm not sure how difficult it will be, but it's definitely doable.
Generally, any time I come to a user asking for their opinion I'm expecting an honest and critical response. It isn't going to hurt my feelings in the slightest if you don't like something I've been working on, in fact, I greatly appreciate criticism as it opens up the door for discussion and improvement.
RE: Discussions QuestionEdit
Hey Zane, sorry for my late response.
I asked around a bit and it looks like the deleted thread will continue to show unless you have the "Hide deleted" option checked in your "filter" dropdown. According to some of the GDM's though, you should be able to edit the contents of the original post and remove the offending content, this should make it a bit easier on the eyes if you choose not to hide deleted posts.
In regards to the Dev wiki theme that you're trying to use, it won't work for you here. If you take a look at the actual CSS you're loading you'll see that every rule there is prefixed by
body.wiki-dev. This is basically making it so that that CSS is only loading on dev.fandom.com.
You could copy the CSS directly into your personal CSS and change
body.wiki-supernatural and it would work, however, you would be getting the same theme as you would on dev.fandom.com. You could then directly modify the CSS to your liking to correct that. I can help you with this if you'd like.
Sorry again for my late response and thanks for closing the forum thread!
Hey Zane, as part of the Supernatural Wiki's redesign, we'd like to update the local navigation here to match the one on the sandbox wiki. Is this okay with you? Mainly we're just reorganizing the links, removing the least performant ones, and making it a bit more viewer-centric rather than editor-centric.
Hey, thanks for your super quick reply. I've updated the navigation bar.
re: editor Edit
Hi, I hope you're doing well! I asked WarGrowlmon18 (because we joined the wiki the same year) about this concern but have you noticed, or has anybody else complained that the editor takes such a long time to load? In my case I could try to edit an article and leave to do other stuff and find the page is stuck perpetually trying to buffer the editor. This happens regardless of the browser I'm on, and even after I refresh the page/editor. It's also one of the reasons why I haven't been able to do much work than I would want to. I've started noticing this years ago but thought it was a one-time thing or due to the transitions to fandom wiki domain, but the problem is persistent. Conversely, the classic editor loads up almost instantly. I'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks. FTWinchester (talk) 14:54, August 7, 2020 (UTC)
- How often do you clean your computer with programs like CCleaner or defragment it? How many windows do you commonly have open when trying to edit and are you watching videos or streaming music? Is your computer old?
I've always edited incognito or private windows so cookies-wise or extension wise, I've never had to clear it frequently. The only extension I have is for moderating the subreddit but even in another device, I run across this problem. The problem occurs regardless of other websites or streaming open. My computer isn't new but I've never had other problems with anything else in the website. Like I said, the classic editor opens up in a second. FTWinchester (talk) 18:33, August 7, 2020 (UTC)
