Hi Zane, Since I got banned on fandom I cant comment / edit but I can see the post so I decided to do this, and yes I know I'm not supposed to be doing this but I need you to hear me out. The Supernatural fandom was the only place I could come on and feel 'normal' in other words, it was my safe place. I would never do anything to get myself banned on here. So let me clarify the situation. Saltnburn666 asked if anyone wants her to make a fan fic of their favorite ships, me being my dumb self I didn't think it would mean smut, because I swear to you, I don't read those. If you looked back at my comment I literally said something along the lines of "how about something cleaner next time" so, I really wasn't suggesting illegal behavior, she asked and I said Casifer. I didn't ask for a smut, i asked for a regular fan fiction. And if you don't wanna "unban" me, fine whatever its okay, but I just wanted to clarify myself. Happy Holidays
Re: CheckUser Request
Hey Zane, I checked the IPs for the user you requested. They do not share an IP address with either of the two users you linked (although this may be due to their IP address being reset by an ISP), however, they do share an IP with Special:Contributions/NecroHo-Oh. There are also a few other peculiarities in their activity that would lead me to assume all those accounts are the same user.
Chuck said it could kill him (not everything Chuck says should automatically be assumed to be a lie). When Sam shot him in the shoulder, he was visibly ticked off, and left him significantly weakened which Amara noted. He recruited Lilith to destroy it for this very reason. And these days, admins bash regular editors to redirect things to talk pages when they don't like something, and weeks will pass without them responding at all, which cleverly allows them to get their way by default. Also, Sam, Dean, and Castiel have all lied, so should be just disregard and distrust everything they say on principle? Of course not, that would be absurd. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashketchum151 (talk • contribs)
New theme for the Supernatural Wiki
Mandy, the Community Manager for this wiki, and I have been working over the last couple of weeks to come up with a new theme for the Supernatural Wiki and we've finally settled on a design that we think fits the Supernatural vibe pretty well and I'd like to get your input on it.
You can find the theme here. As this is the last, and arguably the most important, season yet, we were really aiming for a simple theme that would leave distractions to a minimum and allow readers (and editors!) to focus on the amazing content that you and your team have documented.
Please feel free to poke around on that sandbox wiki and let me know what you think. I'm happy to make any changes you feel may be necessary.
RE: Theme vs Background
Hey Zane. So a background simply refers to the background image for a community, whereas a theme encompasses all visual aspects of the site, from background to link colors, buttons, wordmarks, etc.
Re: CheckUser Question
Hey Zane. Yes, I can check two (or more) IP addresses to let you know if they are being used by the same person. However, this should only be used to combat spam.
This is like the fifth time. Leave Corey alone and stop bothering him with your stupid paranoia, petty urchin. You might have OCD or something. If you want to mindlessly blacklist every new user, then become a Wikia Staff yourself, but leave this poor guy alone.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Brettpartridge16 (talk • contribs)
Heya, yeah so in instances like that, where IPs are creating new accounts to agree with their proposals, I can definitely use CheckUser to confirm and then block those new accounts.
If you have a list of users you think are the same person, feel free to drop them and I can take a look for you!
The user above, for example, is using an IP address that has been used on several accounts that are indefinitely blocked. Feel free to block that account as well.
Hey Zane, super sorry for the late response to your request of checking those four IP addresses. Not sure how I missed that.
None of those IP addresses have any actual account connected to them, and they all seem to originate from different locations.
Hopefully that helps.
I don't know how to do the Discord or really what it is and neither am I interested in that. Too busy. Just know that if someone is on there as me, its really not me.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 05:14, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
I don't use discord and I have also made it known to another admin of ours, Mgdodl, that I have never used discord for any other matter. In what way are they impersonating me and causing trouble? And if I am to sign in, is it just for the sole purpose of making sure you know which user is mine specifically? Is discord and its contents something that is moderated by the team here? FTWinchester (talk) 20:22, May 25, 2020 (UTC)
Well I signed in and put this as my status
- I DON'T USE DISCORD. Verify any content with my wiki talk page to avoid problems with impersonation.
Hey Zane, sorry for my late reply. For some reason I did not receive any kind of notification about your latest message on my talk page.
I looked up the user you requested and, as far as I can tell, they do not share any similar IP addresses as any other user. This does not necessarily mean that they are a legitimate user, they may simply be using a VPN to hide their real IP.
Complaint about Doctor49
User:Doctor49 is posting speculatory information. For example, on the World Turtle's page, he outlined the entity has achieved the a greater mass than the Earth or Universe's based on our reality's measurements and quantifications but we we don't know how big SPN's multiverse is. This is faulty because, in biblical lore, the Archangel Michael could destroy Earth but the version in the show cannot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FrodoEru (talk • contribs)
- I didn't stated the size of the multiverse, not even the universe itself, just the observable universe, the size of the Earth, the flight hight for planes and the size of the Crysler Building, people use measurements like this in fictional media all the time, there's no reason at all to think that, for example, the Chrysler Building is like, 4 meters shorter or taller in the Supernatural universe than it is in the real world, the same with earth and the observable universe, if the writers wrote those references of size in the episodes is for the fans to have at least a ideia of how big those beings are. Tell me, what's the point of adding a reference like "the world", or the Chrysler Building in the episode if they didn't wanted the fans to imagine the actual size of the structures that they mentioned?
(Also i think it was never stated that Michael can't destroy the Earth, Gabriel who is the weakest of them was able to put Sam on a time loop which affected the whole planet, imagine what Michael, the strongest of them can do? And even if he can't destroy the Earth, it dosen't matter bcs the power scaling of a character in the series is not the same as a size reference that is put in the script with the intent of giving the fans a idea of what the characters are talking about.) Anna Milton's Page Links
Hey, i was pretending to rename the page "Anna" to "Anna (Alpha and Omega)" while making the "Anna" page a redirect to "Anna Milton" and i thought i should ask you, is there any problem with it? Doctor49 (talk) 06:05, June 27, 2020 (UTC).
Hey Zane! I hope you're doing well.
Whenever you have some time could you please take a look at this forum discussion? It's been open for about three weeks now and I'd like to get your opinion on the theme/work with you to improve it.
Re: Forum post
Hey! Sorry, I didn't notice that you had already told Dominic you'd be closing it on July 8th. I'm still willing to work with you on the theme if you'd like!
You'll definitely have the ability to modify the theme using your personal CSS. I've never had to rework an entire site theme using personal CSS, so I'm not sure how difficult it will be, but it's definitely doable.
Generally, any time I come to a user asking for their opinion I'm expecting an honest and critical response. It isn't going to hurt my feelings in the slightest if you don't like something I've been working on, in fact, I greatly appreciate criticism as it opens up the door for discussion and improvement.
RE: Discussions Question
Hey Zane, sorry for my late response.
I asked around a bit and it looks like the deleted thread will continue to show unless you have the "Hide deleted" option checked in your "filter" dropdown. According to some of the GDM's though, you should be able to edit the contents of the original post and remove the offending content, this should make it a bit easier on the eyes if you choose not to hide deleted posts.
In regards to the Dev wiki theme that you're trying to use, it won't work for you here. If you take a look at the actual CSS you're loading you'll see that every rule there is prefixed by
body.wiki-dev. This is basically making it so that that CSS is only loading on dev.fandom.com.
You could copy the CSS directly into your personal CSS and change
body.wiki-supernatural and it would work, however, you would be getting the same theme as you would on dev.fandom.com. You could then directly modify the CSS to your liking to correct that. I can help you with this if you'd like.
Sorry again for my late response and thanks for closing the forum thread!
Hey Zane, as part of the Supernatural Wiki's redesign, we'd like to update the local navigation here to match the one on the sandbox wiki. Is this okay with you? Mainly we're just reorganizing the links, removing the least performant ones, and making it a bit more viewer-centric rather than editor-centric.
Hey, thanks for your super quick reply. I've updated the navigation bar.
Hi, I hope you're doing well! I asked WarGrowlmon18 (because we joined the wiki the same year) about this concern but have you noticed, or has anybody else complained that the editor takes such a long time to load? In my case I could try to edit an article and leave to do other stuff and find the page is stuck perpetually trying to buffer the editor. This happens regardless of the browser I'm on, and even after I refresh the page/editor. It's also one of the reasons why I haven't been able to do much work than I would want to. I've started noticing this years ago but thought it was a one-time thing or due to the transitions to fandom wiki domain, but the problem is persistent. Conversely, the classic editor loads up almost instantly. I'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks. FTWinchester (talk) 14:54, August 7, 2020 (UTC)
- How often do you clean your computer with programs like CCleaner or defragment it? How many windows do you commonly have open when trying to edit and are you watching videos or streaming music? Is your computer old?
I've always edited incognito or private windows so cookies-wise or extension wise, I've never had to clear it frequently. The only extension I have is for moderating the subreddit but even in another device, I run across this problem. The problem occurs regardless of other websites or streaming open. My computer isn't new but I've never had other problems with anything else in the website. Like I said, the classic editor opens up in a second. FTWinchester (talk) 18:33, August 7, 2020 (UTC)
When are you going to have time to get into Chat, me and Dominic wanted to talk about a few things Fandom did (I can't go further detail except we talk in Discord or chat ?--Gabriel417 (talk) 10:38, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
Battle plan for series finale
Hey Zane! I hope you're doing well, staying safe and healthy.
I'm reaching out because we're getting very close to the series finale. I just wanted to double-check and confirm that the administrators and editors here will be able to cover the content from the last seven episodes? If not, we're able to assign a CTM, though we usually only do this when absolutely necessary to avoid pulling them away from their other assignments.
In addition, as a part of the original battle plan that Mandy presented, we'd like to put up a trivia quiz for visitors to the wiki. Would this be something you would be comfortable with?
I hope to hear back from you soon!
- Hey! Thanks for the quick reply. A CTM (or Content Team Member) is a Fandom contractor whose job is to help communities create new content when a series/movie is released. They're similar to a regular editor, however, they're paid to make sure that content is put up as quickly as possible.
Hey Zane! Season 15 continues tonight! I'm super excited, I hope you are too!
I wanted to see if there's anything you may need help with before the new episode aires? Let me know!
Hey Zane, I believe that 1 and 2 are they same person although I don’t have any proof but the way they talk about different levels of omnipotence and their insane theories. Could you tell me what you think? Dominic1743 (talk) 23:18, October 11, 2020 (UTC)
Have we been getting vandals in the last couple of days to at least the Abaddon and Archangel power pages or is it just me??? They're unregistered but I'm pretty sure they're the same guy. I've locked the Abaddon page to unregistered editing already and am gonna do the same with the Archangel power page.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 19:46, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
RE: DiscussionActivity issue
Hey Zane! The last I heard about the activity feed was that it would not be getting ported over to the UCP and that a replacement feature would be getting developed.
I'll check to see what the status is of that and will let you know!
Hey Zane, I know we don’t need any new promotions as we are handling everything with discussions and wiki related but I was thinking about promoting https://supernatural.fandom.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Rhythmxx? To to threadmoderator he is a good editor and I know him from Discord. Could I possibly give it as a merit base promotion? Thanks!! Dominic1743 (talk) 01:37, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Re: Discussions Activity
I'm not sure what the problem is. It's fine on my end, I also checked on multiple devices and on mobile as well. I'm guessing it's on their end, which is something I can't do anything about. If it persists, I will contact Corey or Staff. Dominic1743 (talk) 02:10, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
When it's deleted on discussions they can't see it unless they have rights. Also, I was thinking about blocking other users involved it's a shame how people can't use common sense everyone can see what people add on this wiki and they could've been exposed to a younger audience. Dominic1743 (talk) 20:58, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Vandalism on a large scale
Hello, Zane. Since I do not have the authority of a moderator, I cannot remove and stop such vandalism, so I have to bother you. Another user TeslasPigeon (a fanatical schipper, again, who would be surprised?) made a mess on the wiki and has crossed all boundaries (here: Season 16, This false information should be deleted and the user punished. I do have an assumption that this is done by people we all know who don't understand when they are given official facts. I'm surprised they haven't been banned from their IP address yet, we'd all have less problems. I'm sorry if I bothered you, but this problem really needs to be solved somehow. ---- ModestyElyonLane (talk) 16:47, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
Hey do you know if it's possible to make a scrollbox wider/longer than normal? I added one in my profile for a list of every supernatural species/being in the whole franchise but i think it's too small :/. Doctor49 (talk) 05:51, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
It's ok then, i'm not saying there is a a problem with them or anything, it's just that i personaly didn't like it, but if there isn't a way to expand them whatever. Doctor49 (talk) 06:38, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
He Zane, Ive been busy as of recently but still watch the wiki from time to time I just wanted to let you know that I demoted Gabriel456 to rollback due to him being inactive for over a year. Dominic1743 (talk) 02:54, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
New Wiki Rep, The Monthly, & Wiki Policies
Hey again, Zane! Glad to see you here as well. Just like on Lucifer Wiki, I'll be picking up as your Wiki Rep here as well. Just like before, will you tell me a bit about the community here? How are things going on Supernatural Wiki, any issues or changes you'd like to see here?
You will have also received another email, this time inviting you to The Monthly, a private webinar-style event hosted by our Global Community Lead, Will 'MisterWoodhouse' Kavanagh. This series will cover important topics affecting the wiki platform, giving a briefing from Fandom. The first edition of The Monthly is this Friday, February 26th with two opportunities to join: 9am and 4pm US Eastern time. Future editions of The Monthly will be the final Friday of each month, schedule permitting.
You're already aware of the staff blog on Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy. I checked the wiki's policy pages, and there's some good content in the policy category, but perhaps Supernatural Wiki:Policy could be better developed as a central guide? With the upcoming changes, this is a good time to do a full policy review, and it if there's anything you tend to block for that might be unexpected, please make sure it's stated clearly.
Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks, Zane!
- Hey Zane, thanks for your response. I believe The Monthly will take place over Zoom. – KylaraE (talk) 23:19, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hey there, me again. Wanted to let you know that The Monthly is happening again on Friday, March 26th, at two times: 10am-11am EST and 5pm-6pm EST. If you haven't yet, please find the first email sent to the registered email on your account, and click the link to either opt in or opt out. (I'm told that the links appear broken when clicked, but they are in fact still correctly logging whether you're interested or not.) Let me know if this is something you're interested in. – KylaraE (talk) 00:06, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for letting know, I totally understand. If you click the link to unsubscribe, it will just be for those type of emails, not everything from Fandom; you'll still get email notifications about edits to watched pages and such if that's in your settings, for instance. – KylaraE (talk) 18:30, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Hey again, I'm gathering feedback regarding the upcoming change to the desktop skin, called FandomDesktop, to help our team address any early concerns before we get to rollout and testing. Check out this staff blog if you haven't yet, and let me know your thoughts?
Some notable portions:
- Light and Dark modes - A wiki can basically have two theme options, and users can pick their preference.
- Fluid width - The content area can be expanded, and the right rail can also be collapsed, for a wider article page.
- Global navigation - Instead of being on the top as it is now, it will be placed as a narrow bar on the left.
- Local top navigation - This will now scroll with you as you move down the page, so you don't have to scroll back to the top to access the wiki's main navigate.
- Header - Backgrounds are basically being replaced with a wide top header image.
Some pretty big changes to come! So if you have any thoughts or feedback or concerns, either good and bad, please let me know.
You banning me on the Lucifer Wiki
- Thank you for promptly reviewing my case. I appreciate it. The Immortal Selene (talk) 01:44, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
Hey, I just wanted to talk to you about the pictures that I had. Why should mine be taken down? I need the pictures for my profile and, sorry to say, this fandoms sucks. So I just wanted to add more funny and cooler gifs to them and you took them down. I would like to know how this makes any sense since I was just adding more pictures to the fandom so can u please tell me how that is wrong?
Thank you for a response. And I was also wondering if you could help me with my profile page. I cannot seem to get the gifs into a box formation and it is really annoying. So if you could help me with that, that would be great! :)
Hey again, I just want to keep you updated even though you said you didn't have the time to look into new features. I haven't really gotten feedback from any of the admin here regarding FandomDesktop, so I'm doing a final check to see if there's any interest from the admin in it. If not, then I'll put a quick layout together, and mark the wiki as ready to migrate to the new skin. – KylaraE (talk) 00:17, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
Add more weapons to weaknesses
It's kind of bugged me that I don't see Cain's blade or death's scythe on more of the higher tier entity weakness sections. The First Blade powered by the Mark of Cain (and by extension Amara) could kill anything short of God or possibly death. I would like to see it added to the locked pages for the higher level beings like Lucifer and Michael. It just makes sense to list it for thoroughness. Same thing with Death's scythe as that can kill even Death and anyone with the mantle of Death is even stronger than Lucifer or any of the archangels.
^ I Agree that "omniklling" weapons should be listed on all species pages, Death's Scythe, the Equalizer, and maybe even The First Blade and the Colt (although those last two have limits so i guess it would involve speculation on wich beings they can't kill, so it would be better to leave them out of all pages, but i do think the Equalizer and Death's Scythe have no limits and should be listed on every species' pages (not individual characters). Doctor49 (Talk • Contributions) 02:14, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Hey Zane, i was looking on the pages marked for Speedy Deletion and i've seen that you marked a user page for deletion for some reason months ago but never deleted, just wanted to know if you still want to delete it or not, but i think that at least the categories should be removed, the user page is this one.
