What is the piece of clay and what can it do? Why did Dick need it?
These are but two of the questions that passed through my mind while watching the episode yesterday. I have a theory on it. So here it is.
According to some beliefs, when Adam was banished from Heaven and sent to Earth, he reunited with Eve somewhere in the Middle East, which is where the clay comes from. Now what if Dick wants that piece of clay because it is the remains of Adam, the first man created by God? He could use it to recreate man as when they were first made, without all the diseases that have come to plague mankind over the years. Thus, his view of eradicating cancer, AIDS and other major diseases would be achieved.
I have also come across speculations that it might be tablet of some sort with information on defeating the Leviathans carved into it. But why would Dick have it dug up if it could bring about his end?
