After being forced from her homeland, witch Rowena MacLeod was taken in by a peasant Polish family with a young son named Oskar. The eight year old Oskar was terminally ill and didn't have long to live and Rowena grew to love him. As a repayment for a kindness she had never before been shown, Rowena used this spell to cure Oskar's terminal illness.

The spell's exact procedure is unknown, but it was able to be performed by powerful witch Rowena MacLeod at a time when she was homeless and with nothing to her name.
