???[]

Firstly, Lucifer blowing up Castiel with a snap of his fingers is not smiting.

Secondly, what is with all the various "types" of smiting? E.g. Angelic smiting, soul enhanced smiting etc.

mass smiting[]

I think there's an error, the mass smiting made the humans sick, not becoming salt. The thing that made lot's wife turned to salt was heaven's weapon that balthazar used in 6th season (in the third man), Aka Lot's stone/Lot's salt

The Last Calusa[]

In Supernatural: Bone Key the spirit known as the Last Calusa obliterates the demon Alberto. We should keep that on here just marked as non-canon like when we put the non-canon demon names or monsters from the tie-in novels.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 20:59, May 30, 2016 (UTC)

There's an entire list for non-canon monsters on the Monsters page, SeraphLucifer.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 21:23, May 30, 2016 (UTC)

I will fix them then. Non-canon and canon articles should stay seperated. It corrupts wikia.  Also I am  on mobile, my pc is in a bad situation, thats why I directly wrote to undo section. SeraphLucifer (talk) 21:40, May 30, 2016 (UTC)SeraphLucifer

  • Okay. Its just non-canon things being listed in pages like that and I think demons indicate that its okay to list them as long as they are listed as non-canon. BTW: I put that on here because I'm currently writing the pages for the Last Calusa and the demons Fedra and Alberto from that book. Those pages aren't done yet FYI.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 21:42, May 30, 2016 (UTC)

Cleanup[]

This page needs a massive clean up. According to the definition of smiting on this page, "Implosion Smiting" (Whatever this is, as Castiel exploded) or the light beam against Amara would not be "Smiting" since nobody directly touched her. The light beam should rather be placed under photokinesis and "Implosion Smiting" as Reality Warping (making a target X explode is changing the position of every particle X is made of and therefore satisfies the requirements to count as RW) Most powers can be seen as a form of Reality Warping. Smiting Expanded[]

Smiting has by far been one of the most displayed angelic abilities, and arguably one of the coolest.

However, I believe that some facts about it should be altered.

1. Smiting is a very wide term that cannot be clearly assigned to any ability displayed on the show to this date. I believe that the correct term would be White Light.

2. Smiting has, by far only been used to describe tacile power, that is capable of killing any creature with less power than an angel. However some characters such as Amara, Lucifer, and Dagon used what appears to be a remote version of it; it was used to disintegrate angels to clouds of black and white dust from distance, without contact. Yes, could be called biokinesis or molecular combustion, but it was not as nearly as violent as what was used to kill Castiel and Nithael, and included almost no biological matter.

3. The way that Michael killed Anna could also be smiting; however, due to him being far more powerful that any angel ever displayed, his smiting was potent enough to completely incinerate his victim. Note that Castiel displayed similar power after absorbing 50.000 souls: his smiting was now devoid of usual yellow hue, and managed to burn through Lenore's face, instead of only incinerating her eyes. --User:Helel ben Shahaar

  • For one, I think they just changed the Molecular Combustion effect so that it was less gory. The way Cas described what was done to him in The Things We Left Behind to Claire Novak matches the description of Piper Halliwell's molecular combustion power. Lucifer killed Nithael the same way he did Cas and the other angel, but I had always assumed the gory effect was gone since they were in Heaven and Nithael may not have had a vessel. And Amara is God's sister so her effect on the power might've been different. As for what Cas did to Lenore, fans usually bill that as his enhanced power due to the 50,000 souls Crowley gave him but yeah that was kinda different. And Michael is an archangel so honestly, that could've been an enhanced form of pyrokinesis but who knows.
  • Oh and check your spelling when you post please. You had several spelling errors here that popped up with that red underline thing when I wrote this response. I fixed them but please try to avoid that in the future.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 23:24, February 25, 2017 (UTC)
  • I agree that Molecular Combustion and White Light is some type of smiting but there are differences than the original one. White Light has many uses: healing, banishing, destroying objects etc. The one we know as smiting is just focuses on killing targets by touching their face/head. It is OK to split it to other pages. As for Castiel, there is no proof that he had 50.000 souls when he smote Lenore. Cass only had 50.000 souls to start a war in Heaven against Raphael. Apparently, he didn't even had 50.000 souls in 6x03 when we saw his battle with Raphael's soldiers. SeraphLucifer (talk) 08:13, February 26, 2017 (UTC)SeraphLucifer

smiting = white light/photokinesis[]

I've always kind of thought this, but is it reasonable to assume that smiting is just white light/photokinesis generatde within someone's head? This explains why their eyes are burnt and their internal organs liquify (because white light burns/incinerates). It could also be why both white light and smiting are referred to as smiting in the series.Jmac 703 (talk) 04:29, March 8, 2017 (UTC)

Effects/Side effects[]

So it's easily known that smiting kills, but why does the light burn away the victims' eyes? It doesn't happen is seasons 4-6. And why then wouldn't the same side-effect happen when an angel is stabbed (they keep their eyes? --Jmac 703 (talk) 03:03, February 7, 2018 (UTC)

  • Sign your posts. And it does happen in the first few seasons to feature the power. Generally we don't see their eyes afterwards, but in Lazarus Rising the Waitress demon had her eyes burned out when Cas smote everyone in that diner. We were never given an explanation why he didn't finish the job there though. I think the few other times where we didn't see the eyes burned out might've just been bad editing on the part of the showrunners.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 00:03, February 7, 2018 (UTC)
