Sending angels back into Heaven.[]

When was it ever said that the angel banishing spell sent angels into Heaven? And why would it suddenly not send the angels into Heaven now that Metatron kicked them all out? The spell remains the same.L4D2 Ellis (talk) 15:51, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

It was said that they are sent to Heaven. In S9 premiere, Dean just before activating the sigil says "If Heaven is locked, then where do you go when I do this?" RaghavDAll I need is ONE life, ONE try, ONE breath, I'm ONE man 16:50, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

Dean had no idea either and was just randomly guessing. Clearly they aren't sent to Heaven as the sigil still worked. That is really only speculation and not real proof.L4D2 Ellis (talk) 16:57, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

True. But based on the dialogue itself, it is sure that they're sent to Heaven, but now it just banishes them to some place. RaghavDAll I need is ONE life, ONE try, ONE breath, I'm ONE man 17:18, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

Uh, I didn't see that way from the dialogue at all. Just because Dean guessed that it sent them into Heaven, doesn't mean that it does send them to Heaven. If it did, shouldn't every angel be doing that now to get back home? Nothing about the spell itself has changed. Why should it suddenly banish the angels to some other place? The angels can't get back home because they can no longer teleport. Nothing was said that the gates of Heaven was closed due to Metatron's spell. L4D2 Ellis (talk) 20:00, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

When Castiel used the sigil carved on himself he said he was sent to Delacroix (Louisiana?). That was when Heaven was still accessible to angels (Two Minutes to Midnight), so I don't think the claim that the sigil sent angels back to heaven holds. I suppose Dean was just musing around. FTWinchester (talk) 20:04, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

Your probably right, but Castiel was a fallen Angel at the time. General MGD 109 (talk) 20:37, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

Touche. Still, there were never clear references other than Dean's question that would lead us to believe they were sent back to Heaven. Admittedly the thought occurred to me before, but reviewing transcripts, I think they are too vague to indicate that the destination is Heaven (it's usually just 'far away'), unless Carver intended Dean's line to be a retcon/explanation. FTWinchester (talk) 20:51, October 22, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not saying its concrete, but I have to wonder, where else would they be banshed to? The sigil does seem to be an angelic version of an exorcism, so logic would suggest they go back to heaven. Its just the writers rarely put things in that are wrong unless they're ment to be wrong. Still like you said its not enough evidence. But for the moment I think Dean's comment should stand, I somehow can't belive that after knowing him for five years he wouldn't have once asked Castiel what happened when they were banished. Castiel also ended up Australia when Dean banished him in season 7.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 08:08, February 18, 2016 (UTC)

Use Against Archangels[]

Well now we know for sure it will work against Archangels since Sam managed to banish Lucifer. That was freaking cool too, especially since the sigil hasn't been used in over 2 years on the show.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 08:08, February 18, 2016 (UTC)
