Supernatural was renewed for a fourteenth season by The CW on April 2, 2018.[4] The season will consist of 20 episodes[1] and air on Thursdays at 8PM EST.[5]
Preparation for the season began on June 20, 2018.[6] Filming began on July 10, 2018 and will end on March 29, 2019.[7]
The season premiered on October 11, 2018 with Stranger in a Strange Land.[3]

- Episode 13 is the show's 300th episode.
- This is the second season to have characters from the same alternate universe appear in multiple episodes with Season 13 being the first one.
- This is the fourth season to feature a Nephilim with Season 8, Season 12 and Season 13 being the first three.
- The writers returned to work on May 14.

- In Stranger in a Strange Land, the demon Kipling reveals that following the deaths of Crowley, Asmodeus and Lucifer, Hell has been left without a leader for the first time and with no one in line to replace them. Though Kipling tries to become the new Ruler of Hell, Sam kills him and abolishes the position of Ruler of Hell under threat of any demons wanting the job having to face Sam's wrath.
- In Stranger in a Strange Land, Sam is revealed to have created a network of hunters that he is leading in the three weeks since Lucifer's death. In Season 12's Who We Are, Sam tells Dean that he relied on the British Men of Letters to fight monsters so much as he didn't want to take the initiative and lead.
- Sam's new hunter organization in Season 14 appears to take some inspiration from how the British Men of Letters do things, albeit in a far less extreme fashion. The organization utilizes lore from the Men of Letters bunker, uses specialized bullets to target specific enemies, performs hunter check-ins and uses body cameras that automatically upload to a server to track a hunter's progress and learn from it.
- A possible romance is shown to be developing between the alternate Bobby Singer and Mary Winchester. Additionally, the alternate Bobby is revealed to have had a son while the Main Universe Bobby refused to have children with his wife before her death.
