This page is comprised of Sam Winchester's relationships over the years.

Romantic relationships

Amelia Richardson

Spn-8x05-amelia-sam-and-dog

Sam and Amelia dated during the year Dean was trapped in Purgatory. They first met when Sam hit a dog and brought it to her clinic. Amelia didn't have a good first impression of Sam and demanded he take the dog. They later met again when Sam was fixing her sink; she freaked out at first, thinking Sam was stalking her. The two became friends, bonding over the loss of their loved ones, and eventually started a relationship and fell in love. Amelia and Sam moved in together and she even introduced him to her father, who was rather cold toward Sam at first, but eventually warmed up to him. Unfortunately, Amelia learned that her husband Don was in fact alive and, after learning that Don was a good man, Sam broke up with her to give her a chance with him.

Despite this, Sam still had feelings for her and rushed back to her when Dean tricked him into thinking she was in trouble. This strained his relationship with Dean (which was, as always, fixed some time later), but he was reunited with Amelia and had sex with her. Amelia decided that she was willing to leave her husband for him, but Sam suggested they take time to think it through first. They agreed that in a few days, whoever was willing to be in a relationship with the other would return to the motel, and if they were both there, they would be together; however, she asked him not to see her again if he decided not to come. Ultimately, Sam decided to stick with Dean and hunting, but unknown to him, Amelia chose him over Don and went back to the motel, and was upset not to find him there.

Amy Pond

Young Sam and Amy

Amy and Sam met when they were teenagers. Sam saved Amy from a bunch of boys, the two connected and Sam had his first kiss with her. He later found out that she was a kitsune, but let her go after she saved his life. Years later, Sam noticed similar killings happening, and tracked Amy down. After he found her, Amy told Sam she was only killing for her son, Jacob. Trusting her, Sam let her go, only for Dean to kill her later. Her death caused a temporary argument between Sam and Dean, which was later resolved.

Annie Hawkins

Annie was a hunter, in her mid-thirties. She worked on her own and had no family. She was a friend of Bobby, Dean and Sam, and had in fact slept with each of them at various times. It is unknown when these encounters occurred, although Sam told Dean that, in his case, it was when they ended up on a case together at the time he was soulless.

Annie, as several of Sam's lovers, ended up dead. She was killed by Whitman Van Ness.

Becky Rosen

Sam Becky

Becky is a Supernatural fan and a Sam-lover. Sam doesn't have any feelings for Becky, but he put up with her when they met. The two first met in Sympathy for the Devil, when Chuck sent Becky to deliver a message. She immediately began touching Sam, leaving him extremely uncomfortable. Becky continued to hit on Sam during the Supernatural convention in The Real Ghostbusters. She "broke up" with him when she began dating Chuck; Sam pretended to be hurt by it but was actually relieved. To his surprise, Becky provided them with their first real lead on the Colt, leading them to meet Crowley. They met again in Season Seven, Time for a Wedding!, at the beginning of which they got married, as Becky had put Sam under a love spell. Becky was quick to show Sam off. Under the influence of the spell, Sam was completely in love with Becky, which made her extremely happy, but the spell eventually wore off. Sam managed to get Becky to work with him to stop the Crossroad Demon Guy and she saved his life during the confrontation by killing the demon Jackson. Afterwards, Sam got an annulment of their marriage, but felt bad for her and told her that she would eventually find someone who would like her for her and pointed her towards Garth.

Dr. Cara Roberts

Sam and Cara

Cara was a one-night stand in Sex and Violence. The two met in the hospital where Cara worked when Sam was investigating strange cases of men killing their wives. Dean tried to make a move on her but she was more interested in Sam. Sam later returned for the blood samples but Cara found that they had already been taken. With nothing else to do, Sam stayed and had drinks with her. They eventually made love in her office. Sam departed without saying goodbye to her.

Eileen Leahy

Sam met Eileen when he visited Oak Park Retirement Living to investigate a case involving the death of one resident. Eileen, in her maid guise, attacked Sam and accused him of being a Banshee. Sam let her test him using her golden knife and informed her that he was a hunter. Eileen was surprised and admitted she was a hunter too. After the misunderstanding was cleared, Sam and Eileen befriended each other and agreed to work together to find the Banshee, who had been responsible for the deaths of Eileen's parents. Sam tried to communicate with Eileen, who is deaf, by using some sign language he had learned at Stanford University, but he was admittedly not very good at it. With the help of resident Mildred Baker, the two hunters successfully vanquished the Banshee. From then on, Sam and Eileen developed a friendship and kept in contact. Sam learned sign language properly so he could talk to Eileen.

The two took part in another hunt together about a year later when Eileen found a lead on Kelly Kline, the mother of Lucifer's unborn child. Using the information she gathered, Sam and Dean were able to locate Kelly and attempted to take her back to the Bunker, but Kelly's protector Dagon interfered and took Kelly away. In an attempt to stop Dagon, Eileen fired The Colt, but the bullet hit British Man of Letters operative Renny Rawlings instead. When Mick Davies attempted to kill Eileen in retaliation as per British Men of Letters protocol, Sam was the one to talk him out of it, insisting it had been an accident. Back at the bunker, Eileen had a break down and Sam comforted her. The two hunters parted ways soon after.

Eileen embraces Sam 1

Sam comforts Eileen.

A few weeks later, Eileen was killed by Arthur Ketch's hellhound. Sam learned this from Jody Mills, and he and Dean visited the morgue to identify the body. Sam was shown to be very saddened by the loss of his friend, even more since a handful of other hunters had been killed in a short period of time. He received a letter sent by Eileen a few days before, in which she informed them of the possibility of wiretapping and asked to stay at the Bunker with them for a while. The letter helped Sam and Dean find out about the wiretaps hidden inside the bunker. They used that to trick the British Men of Letters into a trap, and managed to capture Lady Toni Bevell, who confirmed Sam's suspicion that Eileen was killed by the Brits.

A few years later, during Golden Time, Sam met Eileen as a ghost, discovering she had been dragged to Hell and had escaped. Eileen later accompanied Sam to Rowena's apartment to find the spell for a soul bomb and they discussed Hell. They arrived at Rowena's apartment where they found a dead witch. Very soon, he uncovered a resurrection spell created by Rowena and told Eileen he could resurrect her. After killing a family of witches who had attacked them, Sam proceeded with the spell and Eileen emerged from the pool, back to life, and hugged Sam. Sam later told his brother that Eileen was adjusting again.

During Last Call, Sam and Eileen spent some time together, including a night of margaritas out and a morning making a big breakfast. After Dean left on a hunt, Sam and Eileen began researching ways to find Chuck or Lilith, when Eileen suggestively offered they do something else. Sam started to respond when Castiel returned to the Bunker with an idea about how to find Chuck by probing Sam's God wound.

During Our Father, Who Aren't in Heaven, Sam was shown to have become very protective of her. As a very independent woman, she didn't take that very well and told Sam as much, which he understood. However, she later asked him to come with her to help a hunter friend in trouble. As they arrived, they discovered that the whole thing was a trap set by God.

In The Trap, God revealed that he had played a part in Eileen's resurrection and used the word "romance" to define their relationship. He then took control of Eileen's body and used it to dig into Sam's wound with a scalpel; however, Eileen was still conscious and God enjoyed hurting them both by doing that. After they returned to the Bunker, Eileen decided to leave, stating she "didn't know what [was] real anymore". Sam kissed her goodbye and watched her go.

Jessica Moore

SN 19Mar2007 553

Sam and Jessica Moore met through their mutual friend Brady. The two quickly fell in love and were shown to be living together in an apartment. Although Sam was planning on marrying Jessica, he never revealed his hunting past to her, thinking it would be safer.

The two had been together for over a year by the time Dean arrived to drag Sam off to hunt a woman in white. Sam intended to return to his life with Jessica after helping Dean. However, when Sam returned to their apartment, he discovered Jessica on the ceiling with her stomach cut open. She soon burst into flames, and died exactly the same way his mother had 22 years earlier.

Sam was heartbroken and did not get over her death for a long time. Her death would be avenged when Sam discovered that Brady had set them up, as part of Azazel's plan to lure Sam back into hunting. In retaliation, Sam killed Brady.

Years later, Sam still remembered Jessica. While under torture by Lady Toni Bevell, Sam saw a vision of Jessica's death and called out to her. He also tells Dean he still thinks about her in Atomic Monsters.

It is unknown if Sam still regrets never warning Jessica about her death, as he had foreseen it days before it happened.

Lana

Image-3

Lana was a prostitute whom a soulless Sam slept with in The Third Man. She was very impressed with Sam's physique and prowess and even gave him her phone number so they could meet again outside of her shift. Sam pretended to be intrigued by her offer but quickly tossed the number in the garbage after she left.

Lori Sorensen

Image-1

Sam and Lori met in Hook Man, as the brothers went to Ankeny, Iowa, to investigate the Hookman. They bonded over having both lost someone important, and an attraction formed, eventually leading to a passionate kiss, but it was too soon after Jessica's death for Sam. Despite a mutual attraction, and Dean offering to stay in town for a while, Sam decided to leave.

Madison

Sam-and-Madison-supernatural-20093200-500-280

Madison and Sam met in Heart. There was a clear attraction between the two as soon as they met, but it wasn't until they believed her clear of the werewolf curse that she and Sam slept together. However, Sam was devastated when he woke up and discovered she wasn't cured, and in their final, tragic moments together, Madison begged Sam to kill her in order to prevent her from killing anyone else - something he ended up doing, even though it hurt him as she was the first woman he had opened his heart to since Jessica died. In The Monster at the End of This Book, Sera Siege referred to her as the first woman Sam had really loved since Jessica.

Meg

SamandMeg

Megs runs into Sam, again

The first time Sam and Meg met, they were both trying to make their way to California. He was unaware that she was actually a demon working for Azazel and was possessing an innocent girl to get close to him. They spent some time waiting at the bus station and got to know each other pretty well. Meg pretended to sympathize with Sam's frustration over Dean and unsuccessfully tried to push him to stay away from him. Meg later complained to Azazel about him not letting her kill Sam and Dean, which she could have easily done.

The second time they met, Sam realized that something wasn't right about her - just before she tried to have him and Dean killed by daevas that she was controlling. Despite her psychotic tendencies, she appeared very attracted to Sam and seemed to want to try and get together with him, although that was actually just an act to gain his trust. A few episodes later, Sam captured her and performed an exorcism on the demon in order to save the real Meg Masters. However, he was reluctant to continue the exorcism after she gave them John's location, as she could still be useful and exorcising the demon would probably kill the girl she was possessing. Sam reluctantly finished at Dean's request and sent the demon to Hell. Although the real Meg died, she was grateful towards Sam for freeing her of the possession she had to endure for over a year.

The demon later returned and possessed Sam, and tried to make it look as though he was evil to try and force Dean to kill him. Bobby eventually forced the demon to flee, but Sam was left with the knowledge of what he had done while possessed.

When Meg returned for the Apocalypse, she was possessing a new body but Sam was able to identify her on the spot after she greeted him. Meg taunted him about his lack of power against her, but fled when Dean killed her minions. Later, after Dean shot one of her Hellhounds, another one fatally injured Jo, which resulted in the death of both her and Ellen, leaving Sam devastated.

While soulless, Sam proposed an alliance with the demon against Crowley in an attempt to kill him and get his soul back. After Crowley was "killed," Sam went to kill Meg, but she fleed again. When Dean allied with Meg to protect Castiel, Sam was reluctant to trust her, but Dean told him it was more like an "enemy of my enemy" situation. Sam worked with Meg to stop Kevin Tran from running off with The Word of God and was a little shocked when angels believed he was in a relationship with her. Sam's distrust of Meg went so far that he and his brother snared her in a Devil's Trap when she returnd from killing two demons, but after she explained that her goal was to kill Crowley and not to mess with them, Sam freed her and she earned his trust. This caused him to be more comfortable around Meg and even ally with her to destroy the Leviathans.

After Dean returned from Purgatory, he indicated that he may have looked for her for help, but said that he didn't know where she was. After they rescued Meg from Crowley's demons, Sam once again allied himself with her against Crowley and displayed only slight distrust in her. Despite this, he worked with her to demon-proof the building where the angel tablet was and, at her prodding, confessed everything that had happened. Meg was aware of his desire to have a normal life from the time she possessed him and actually sympathized with his situation with Amelia Richardson, indicating that she understood what it was like to have someone you love change you, because of her love for Castiel. Meg and Sam fought side-by-side against Crowley's demons and when Crowley himself showed up, Meg told Sam to get Dean and Castiel while she held Crowley off. Despite learning Sam and Dean's plan to seal the Gates of Hell with all the demons inside, which would include her, Meg didn't betray the trust Sam placed in her and fought against Crowley, who beat her badly. Her actions allowed Sam, Dean and Castiel to escape, and Sam watched, horrified, as Crowley killed Meg.

Sarah Blake

Cap203

The daughter of an auction house owner, Sarah got involved with Sam in Provenance when he tried to use her to get information about a haunted painting. He realized he was attracted to her but didn't want to get close in case she got hurt. She reminded him that it was her choice and she helped out on their ghost hunting mission. When Sam and Dean had to leave, Sam finally made his move and kissed her, deciding to stay in town a few days so they could be together, showing he had begun moving on from Jessica. Dean later suggested they go visit her again, but Sam refused.

They eventually reunited in Clip Show, but by then Sarah was happily married with a daughter and Sam was happy for her. Sam was devastated when Crowley killed her and considered giving in to Crowley as a result.

Sparrow Jennings

During Sam's soulless period, when Dean was kidnapped by fairies in Clap Your Hands if you Believe, Sam ignored him and had a one-night stand with a "hippie chick" from a local group of UFO followers. Dean was later angered by Sam not looking for him when he disappeared.

Velma Dinkley

During the time Sam was trapped in the television show "Scooby-Doo" in the episode Scoobynatural, Velma fell for Sam's "broad shoulders" and the two shared a kiss.

Other relationships

Azazel

Sam and Azazel dream walking 2x21 01

When Sam was 6 months old, Azazel entered his home in Lawrence and fed him demon blood. This was a ritual meant to turn Sam into a Special Child. Mary's interruption of the ritual led to her death and the destruction of Sam's home. As a result, Sam grew up without a mother and was raised to become a hunter so he could one day avenge Mary's death and kill the demon responsible.

As Sam and his family hunted down Azazel, said demon kept a close eye on Sam and every other Special Child, although he came to favor Sam above all others. He instructed various demons to possess people close to Sam, from his teachers to his friends, as a means to keep an eye on the boy.

When Sam ran away from his family to begin a new life in college, Azazel felt he could not allow Sam to waste his gifts as a soldier by living a normal life, so Azazel instructed another demon to possess Sam's friend Brady and have that demon introduce Sam to Jessica Moore. Azazel planned to have Jessica killed from the moment Sam met her, and it was Jessica's death that drove Sam to become more focused in his hunting in hopes of avenging both Mary and Jess.

Sam and Azazel met briefly in Salvation when Sam caught Azazel in the middle of feeding demon blood to Rosie Holt. Azazel teleported out of the nursery to avoid being shot by the Colt. Unbeknownst to Sam, Azazel went onto possessing John Winchester and lured Sam and Dean into a trap by pretending to be their father. This became Azazel and Sam's first very first official meeting since Sam was a baby. Although Sam threatened to kill Azazel for what he did, Azazel did not take him seriously and instead focused on Dean. As Azazel tortured Dean, John regained control of his body long enough to give Sam the chance to kill the demon, but Sam refused, since Sam did not want to sacrifice his own father for the mission. Azazel fled the scene, much to John's chagrin.

Months later, Azazel kidnapped Sam and many other Special Children in order to have them fight each other to the death, and take the winner as the leader of his demon army. Azazel was rooting for Sam to win, and personally spoke to Sam in his dreams to give him encouragement. Sam was killed in battle by Jake Talley, but was soon resurrected by Dean's deal with a crossroads demon, something Azazel thanked Dean for. When Azazel threatened to kill Dean again, Sam tried to save his brother but was pinned to a tree, forced to watch as Azazel pointed the Colt to Dean's head.

I'll get to you in a minute, champ. But I'm proud of you— knew you had it in you.
— Azazel's last words to Sam
in All Hell Breaks Loose - Part 2

In the end, it was John who helped Dean execute the demon and avenge Mary and seemingly Jessica. Sam would not discover until a few years later that Azazel had ordered Brady to kill Jessica, and through Lucifer, Sam would also discover the number of people Azazel had possessed to watch over Sam. All these demons and their hosts were killed by Sam himself, thus ending Sam's connection to Azazel once and for all.

Years later, Sam learned what kind of demon Azazel was from Crowley and Castiel. He was shocked to hear how powerful the Princes of Hell were.

Benny Lafitte

When Dean returned from Purgatory, he purposefully kept Benny away from Sam, something Sam was angry about when he found out. Benny and Sam first met after Dean and Benny took down Benny's old nest and Sam came to help. Sam immediately realized Benny was a vampire and only refrained from attacking because of Dean. Possibly because of his own bad experience with supposedly redeemed monsters, Sam refused to trust Benny and yelled at Dean for always throwing in his face that he never tried to rescue him, pointing out his Benny secret. He also threatened that he might one day kill Benny and sent Martin Creaser to track him.

When it appeared Benny was killing again, Sam wanted to hunt him down immediately, but did give Dean time to try and find out the truth. Despite this, Sam refused to believe it and sided with Martin, even after he knocked Dean out. Sam only abandoned the hunt after Dean faked a distress text from Amelia. He later forced Dean to choose between him and Benny, saying that where they would go in the future depended on that and Dean chose Sam. Later, when Sam was trapped in Purgatory with Bobby's soul, he was shocked to see Benny, who saved him and Bobby. Despite his distrust of Benny, Sam did stop Bobby from attacking immediately, calling Benny a "buddy" of Dean's, though he was not at all pleased to see him.

Both Benny and Sam pointed out the irony of the fact that Benny was rescuing Sam, who wanted to kill him. Despite this, possibly putting his trust in Dean knowing what he was doing, Sam at least reluctantly trusted Benny and lead them to the portal out. Sam even offered Benny a ride out, but Benny chose to stay behind, both because he no longer felt like he belonged on Earth and to protect Sam from a group of vampires who were arriving. Understanding this, Sam gave him his Purgatory Blade. He told Dean of his fate, along with the fact that he didn't think Benny would have returned anyway.

Benny's actions in Purgatory finally earned him Sam's trust and acceptance, and when he learned that Dean buried Benny's remains rather than burning them, he told Dean he finally understood that Benny was different and to go ahead and leave the door open to bring him back again in the future.

Gadreel

In order to save Sam, Dean tricked Sam into saying "Yes" to the angel Gadreel, believing he was Ezekiel, so the angel could heal him from the inside of the damage induced by the Trials. Gadreel acted as Sam's "angelic pacemaker" through the first half of season 9, keeping him alive and slowly healing him, but keeping the truth from him by erasing his memory so that Sam couldn't expel him, which would mean death. Gadreel occasionally used Sam's body to do various tasks, but always returned control to him. Gadreel's presence protected Sam from Vesta and saved him when Chef Leo mortally wounded him, but after agreeing to work for Metatron, Gadreel took full possession of him, trapping Sam in a fantasy world within his mind where he believed he was hunting with Dean. With help from Crowley, Sam learned the truth and expelled Gadreel, but it severely damaged his relationship with Dean. It was shown that Gadreel at least mostly healed Sam as he claimed before being expelled, despite telling Sam he might be all that was keeping him alive, and Castiel planned to finish what Gadreel had started.

Sam later told Castiel that he could kind of sense Gadreel in his head and he felt that Gadreel felt misunderstood, not evil. After learning the truth about Metatron, Gadreel came to the Winchesters and Castiel to offer his help. Despite what Gadreel did to him, Sam was willing to forgive him and let him help and was furious when Dean tried to kill the angel. Sam helped Castiel track down and save Gadreel and the three worked together to stop Metatron. While Sam helped Dean go after Metatron with the First Blade, Gadreel helped Castiel sneak into Heaven to break the Angel Tablet and Metatron's power. While Dean got killed by Metatron, Gadreel sacrificed himself to redeem himself for all of his actions, including what he did to Sam, and to save Heaven. Sam seemed to consider Gadreel a friend after everything he did when he switched sides, as when he told Dean off for going with Crowley rather than his "real friends", he specifically referred to Gadreel as one.

God

The Trap 03

Sam and God

Unlike his brother, Sam was always a strong believer in God, and prayed to him throughout his life. Unknowingly, Sam would meet God during the events of The Monster at the End of This Book, but would know him simply as "Chuck Shurley". It should be noted that God, as Chuck, expressed disappointment in Sam's addiction to demon blood. He chose not to add this piece of information to the Supernatural books to keep Sam from appearing "unsympathetic".

Sam was initially disbelieving of Chuck's prediction that he would sleep with Lilith. When Lilith did arrive, Sam intended to kill her, but almost got killed himself until Chuck arrived at his location. This sent Lilith running in fear of the archangel that was guarding Chuck.

Sam met Chuck again in The Real Ghostbusters, during which Sam threatened to harm Chuck if he continued publishing the Supernatural books. Sam was, however, glad to know that Becky liked Chuck.

Afterwards, Sam rarely spoke of or even mentioned Chuck, and since Sam was a practical person, he did not rely much on praying, though he still prayed, even after he felt God had abandoned him and Dean during the Apocalypse. Sam's last known prayer was in Form and Void, which went unheard by God but was picked up by Lucifer instead.

It wasn't until Don't Call Me Shurley that Sam and Dean discovered that Chuck was in fact God, as revealed by Dean's amulet. God also cured Sam from being a Rabid before they came face to face.

In We Happy Few, Chuck admitted to being God to Sam and Dean by teleporting them to the bunker and even used the soul of Kevin Tran to fully convince the brothers. While Dean was displeased and resentful, Sam was notably enthusiastic with finally meeting God though nervous because of their last encounters, and began bombarding him with numerous questions until Dean told him to stop.

Sam did grow a little uncomfortable with God's apparent lack of concern for Lucifer, who was being held captive by Amara. After rescuing Lucifer, Sam helped to bring father and son together through a therapy session. He then helped God devise a plan to attack Amara, and personally recruited the witches for this cause. God also put a protection around Sam, as noted by Clea.

Privately, Sam and God discussed passing the Mark onto Sam, since Sam was the only candidate not yet tainted by the Mark. However, the attack on Amara failed, and God was left dying on the floor. Sam helped to carry him outside. Afterwards, Sam remained by God's side, occasionally checking on him, until God himself disappeared.

During Moriah, God returned to Earth and appeared to the Winchesters with Castiel. Sam was shocked to see him again and, along with Dean, confronted him on his absence, before God intimidated them to stop. God cancelled out Jack's influence on the world while telling them that they had to kill Jack, who had grown out of control. Sam spoke with God, bringing up the words of alternate Michael about other universes and God's part in them. He was put off by God being vague about them, before he realizes that God feared Jack's power, and God told him Dean went to confront Jack. Sam arrived to Jack's location, where he saw God already there and watching the events unfold, and was disgusted by God's enjoyment of the scene. After Dean refused to shoot Jack, Sam saw God was surprised and confronted him on his recent actions. God tried to say Sam was babbling but Sam continued before he and the others accused him of manipulating events, resulting in God personally killing Jack. Horrified and enraged, Sam shot him, merely in the shoulder as he knew killing God would break the balance in the universe. Enraged by their audacity, God then unleashed all the sould from Hell to punish them. As a result, Sam and the others fought against swarms of the undead surrounding them.

Henry Winchester

As Time Goes By 04

Sam and Henry

Henry was Sam's paternal grandfather. Sam first met him in As Time Goes By, when the latter time traveled to get away from a demon named Abaddon. After learning who he was, Sam was as shocked to meet him as the latter was to meet him and Dean. Unlike his brother who was resentful towards him, Sam was understanding and correctly assumed that it wasn't his fault for not being there to raise John. Sam was confused that Henry was disappointed in him and Sam not being in Men of Letters before watching Dean criticize him for abandoning his family.

After Henry read John Winchester's Journal, he tried to undo his mistake and travelled back to his son. Aware that this would alter history, Sam was worried about him and Dean went stop him.

After Abaddon abducted Sam in exchange for Henry, Henry and Dean went to save him. Henry devised a plan that would permit them to defeat Abaddon at the cost of his life. Sam was saddened by his grandfather's fate, and the latter used his final moment to express pride in them and their father.

The brothers then buried their grandfather in the cemetery of his fellow deceased Men of Letters, and realized the significance of all Heaven positioning the brainy Winchesters and brawny Campbells together to produce them. Sam even wondered what their father would have been like if he had had his own father.

Through Henry, Sam and Dean learned about the Men of Letters and found a new home in the Men of Letters bunker.

In Mother's Little Helper, Sam learned of the case his grandfather was on before his initiation and the events that led to the massacre of the Men of Letters. Sam was devastated to know that Henry's fate could have been avoided with a warning but understood the circumstances. Sam returned home and agreed with Dean on taking Abaddon down.

During Lebanon, after Dean mentioned Henry to their father who was taken out of time, Sam brought up their legacy from Henry and John.

Lilith

Sam first heard of her from Ruby and was made aware that she saw him as competition.

During No Rest for the Wicked, Sam developed a hatred of her from her torturing victims, as well as her commanding a hellhound to kill Dean. Lilith tried to kill Sam but he proved immune to her powers and she was forced to retreat. In the following months, Sam trained with his powers to kill Lilith in revenge for his brother's demise.

Despite Dean being resurrected, Sam was still intent on ending her life, something driven by Ruby's manipulations. When they met again in The Monster at the End of This Book, Lilith tried to bargain with Sam who feigned cooperation until moving to kill her. Sam was overpowered and would have been killed if Dean hadn't brought Chuck Shurley; she retreated, since Chuck was protected by an Archangel. In Lucifer Rising, Sam ultimately killed Lilith and was horrified to learn from Ruby that killing the demon would release the Devil and start The Apocalypse.

Sam would not hear of Lilith for a decade, until she was resurrected by God in Proverbs 17:3. Lilith reminded Sam of who she was and he was horrified to see her alive. Lilith also brought up how she allowed her death to fulfill the rising of Lucifer.

Lisa Braeden

While soulless, Sam had no qualms asking Dean to hunt with him and leave Lisa behind. After regaining his old personality, Sam was supportive of his brother's relationship with Lisa and was outraged by Dean's decision to have Castiel strip Lisa of their memories together, calling it the worst out of all the crap things Dean had did, and only reluctantly abandoned it when Dean threatened to break his nose for real, which genuinely saddened him.

Matthew Pike

In Bugs, Sam met a 16 year-old named Matt while investigating a case involving insects with Dean. The brothers initially suspected Matt was the culprit due to his fascination in insects, but they soon realized it wasn't the case.

Sam managed to bond with Matt over their shared disagreements with their respective fathers. Matt and his father did not get along and rarely saw eye to eye, to the point where Matt referred to his father by his first name. Sam recalled that John was also hard on him in a similar manner, though Dean disagreed.

At one point, Sam excitedly told Matt to expect college in two years time, describing it as something wonderful. Later on, Matt helped Sam and Dean rescue his family from the curse which was causing the insect problem. Once the case was solved, Matt and his father reconciled, much to Sam's delight.

Mick Davies

Ladies Drink Free 05

Sam and Mick

Sam met Mick Davies while under interrogation and torture by Mick's co-worker Lady Toni Bevell. Unlike Toni, Mick presented himself as a friend and even took Toni away back to England. Sam responded to Mick's kinder gesture by trusting him enough to call him for help in dealing with Lucifer. Although Sam hung up too soon, Mick alerted Arthur Ketch as the call made him worry that Sam could be in trouble.

Sam met Mick again while escaping Site 94. Mary and Castiel had asked help from Mick and Arthur in locating Sam and Dean. They did not interact and Sam and Dean only showed distrust in Arthur. Later on, Mary brought Sam to the British Men of Letters compound so he could partake in Mick's assigned project to wipe out America's vampires. When the Alpha Vampire retaliated, Sam taught Mick how to make bullets for The Colt so they could kill the Alpha. Their combined efforts led to the Alpha's death and Mick's survival, as well as Sam joining their ranks.

Now one of their own, Mick decided to send Sam a list of potential hunts. When Sam revealed this fact to Dean, Dean agreed to join the Brits. In order to gain field experience, Mick joined the brothers on a werewolf hunt. However, Mick's loyalty to the British Men of Letters code drove him to kill a teenager who was turning. This upset Sam so much he refused to speak to Mick or listen to any excuses, though Mick proved useful when he had a means to locate Claire Novak and cure her of her transformation.

Their relationship clearly improving, Mick was able to pay Sam and Dean a visit at the Men of Letters bunker and share a drink with them while they discussed Jack. Mick slept there for the night and joined them on a hunt for Kelly Kline, the child's mother. While Mick and his associate Renny Rawlings wanted the child aborted, Sam argued, preferring to deal with the baby differently. They were soon interrupted by Dagon, who came to take Kelly away. Eileen accidentally killed Renny in an attempt to kill Dagon, and Mick - ever loyal to the code - tried to kill Eileen.

It was Sam who talked Mick out of it, convincing Mick to follow his own code. Sam's speech to Mick was reminiscent of his speech to Max Miller and Magda Peterson, in which he urged both not to kill someone. Although Mick was talked out of killing Eileen, his newfound dislike in the code led to his own death. The same happened to Max and Magda.

Sam did not find out about Mick's death until weeks later, when a captured Lady Toni Bevell casually told him and Dean the truth. She even admitted he was killed because he held sympathies for the Winchesters. Sam was visibly unhappy about Mick's death, having thought him alive and in London as told by Arthur Ketch.

Samuel Campbell

Sam-and-Samuel

Samuel was Sam's maternal grandfather, who Sam was named after. During Season 4, Sam learned about him from Dean and was amazed to hear they came from a long line of hunters. Samuel was dead up until Season 6 when Sam was also raised from Hell. The two found each other and began hunting together. They hunted for a whole year, until Dean was brought back into the picture. Samuel admitted he knew something was off with Sam, who was soulless at the time. Sam did trust Samuel though, until he chose Dean over Samuel when Samuel was revealed to be working with Crowley. Samuel later betrayed his grandsons by giving them over to Crowley, who had promised to bring Mary back.

When Sam got his soul back, all the memories of him and Samuel were locked away. They met again, Sam prevented Dean from killing him but didn't trust Samuel, and Samuel noticed Sam was different as the latter told him how he got his soul back, no thanks to him. Samuel was surprised to see the real personality of Sam and that he didn't remember them hunting together. Eventually, Sam and Dean confronted their grandfather on his actions and he seemed somewhat conflicted but didn't apologize. Despite Dean threatening him, Sam was ultimately the one to kill Samuel, shooting him after he got possessed by a Khan Worm.

Sam seemed somewhat remorseful for killing him since he was still his grandfather, even after Dean told him what it meant to be family. After Sam accessed all his memories of his time soulless, he presumably remembered his year hunting with Samuel.

Sully

Just My Imagination 03

Sam and Sully

Sam's imaginary friend as a kid. Sam and Sully were inseparable, since the latter comforted him while his father and brother were on hunts. This lasted until Sam later rejected and left him. Sully later moved on from Sam with a severe heartbreak.

Years later, Sully tracked Sam for help while he was shocked to see him again and punched him until learning who he was and discovering he was a Zanna. He tried to process the revelation Sully was real but agreed to help him, as his friends were being killed. During the case, Sam recalled the time he spent with Sully. Sam later apologized to Sully about what had happened in the past, as he told him about his recent life events and his fear. Sully was aware and suggested he run away.

After Reese told them what she had been through after her sister's death, and how and why she was killing Zannas. Sully offered to let her kill him to stop her from murdering more Zanna, but Sam and Dean were able to talk her down, since Sully felt guilt and didn't know how to amend it. Sam was happy Reese forgave Sully with a hug. With the problem solved, Sully thanked the brothers and they parted on good terms.
