Rob Benedict (b. September 21, 1970) is an American actor who portrayed God (and his identity as "Chuck Shurley") on Supernatural and Musician Tango on The Winchesters.

History[]

Rob has also appeared in episodes of Chicago Hope, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Felicity, Birds of Prey, Alias, Threshold, Head Case and Lucifer.

Alongside Richard Speight Jr. and Matt Cohen, Rob is a regular at conventions. The three are known collectively as R2M by fans. He, along with Richard, are creators and actors of the series King of Con (which was canceled after one season).

Rob can play the guitar, a skill which he demonstrated in episode Don't Call Me Shurley. He demonstrates this skill most as a member of the band known as Louden Swain.

Rob has also described himself as a fan of Misha Collins.

In Hang on to Your Life of The Winchesters, Rob appears as one of the Jericho Kid's bandmates and is credited as "Tango."

  • Rob is the brother of actress Amy Benedict and the ex-husband of Mollie Benedict, with whom he is the father of a son and a daughter. He resides in Los Angeles with his family.
  • He is currently engaged to Ruth Connell, who played the role of Rowena MacLeod in the series. They have a daughter together.
  • In October 2013, Rob suffered a stroke during a convention. His friend Richard Speight Jr. rushed him to the hospital, where the doctors told them that had they been a few hours late, Rob would have died. This inspired Rob to start campaigns involving cancer prevention.
