Portal Creation is the ability to create portals to different locations. It is usually accomplished through some form of spell or an innate power for powerful beings.

Characters with this Abillity[]

Archangels
- Raphael - Opened a portal back from Alternate Earth for Virgil via spell.
- Michael - Opened a twelve-hour rift to Purgatory with just a snap of his fingers, despite being handcuffed with the Supernatural Handcuffs.
- Gabriel - Gabriel dropped Dexter Hassleback into a wormhole.
Angels
- Castiel - Castiel opened up the sky to talk to his vessel Jimmy, shining heavenly light down on him.
- Balthazar - Opened a portal to Alternate Earth for the Winchesters via spell.
- Metatron - According to Ezra, Metatron could open a portal to Heaven anywhere on Earth at will.
Men of Letters
- Cuthbert Sinclair - Could open portals into and out of his heavily-warded mansion for himself and visitors.
- Sam Winchester - Was able to use a spell from the Men of Letters files to open a portal into Cuthbert Sinclair's hidden mansion. Sam was later able to use a ritual from the Demon Tablet to open a rift into the Apocalypse World.
- Diego Avila - Was able to use a ritual to open a rift into an alternate reality.
Nephilim
- Jack - Jack's birth inadvertently opened a rift to Apocalypse World. On his own, due to not possessing the ability to see the alternate reality, he therefore required the help of a dreamwalker such as Kaia Nieves to consciously open a rift to an alternate reality. Working together, they opened a rift to the Bad Place, instead of Apocalypse World due to Kaia flashing between the two worlds. Due to her flashing between Apocalypse World and the Bad Place, the rift they opened transported everyone to three different locations, Kaia to a roadside, Jack to Apocalypse World and the Winchesters to the bad place. The alternate Zachariah claimed Jack is powerful enough to create a rift big enough to march an army through. The alternate Kaia wished for Jack to open a rift for her to go back home in exchange for giving the Winchesters her spear for using against Michael. When Jack opened the rift to the Bad Place following his second resurrection, he was able to do it simply by concentrating, though in this case he had earlier dreamwalked to the Bad Place through Dark Kaia and may not have needed the active connection to open the rift as a result. Jack was able to overpower Lucifer's True Form and shut the portal to The Empty.
Prophets
- Alternate Kevin Tran - Via a ritual, he opened a rift from Apocalypse World to the Main Universe.
Dreamwalkers
- Kaia Nieves - Working together with Jack, she was able to open a rift to the Bad Place. Due to her flashing between the Bad Place and the Apocalypse World, the two inadvertently transported everyone to three different locations; two of which were the alternate realities Kaia was flashing between.
- Dark Kaia - Through magic from her own world she was able to create a rift from the Bad Place to the Main Universe. However, this magic didn't work in the Main Universe and she couldn't repeat the process to go home.
Ghosts
- Ghost Kid - While the pocketknife he was attached to was within a TV playing an episode of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, the ghost kid was able to pull the Winchesters, Castiel and the Impala into the Scooby Doo Universe and later return them to the real world.
Deities
- Yokoth - Was able to use a ritual to open a rift into her alternate reality.
Witches/Magic Practitioners
- Rowena MacLeod - Was able to use a ritual to open a rift into an alternate reality.
- Sam Winchester - Using a ritual from the Demon Tablet, was able to open a rift to Apocalypse World. Later, using a variation of the ritual, was able to open a rift long enough to bring through the alternate Sam and Dean trapped between worlds.
- Joan Hopkins - Using a combination of magic and a planetary alignment, Joan was able to open a portal for the Akrida to invade the Monster Club Universe, but she was killed by Mary Campbell before the Akrida could come through.
The Shadow - Can open a portal to Earth and to the Empty. After Castiel experienced a moment of true happiness and fulfilled his deal with it, it consumed him into the Empty.

Objects, Spells and Places with this Abillity[]

Bermuda Triangle - In Mystery Spot, Sam Winchester mentions the region, comparing it to the tourist trap called "Mystery Spot" stating that there are places in the world where "holes open up and swallow people" alongside with the "Oregon Vortex" tourist trap.

Rings of the Horsemen When put together, along with and incantation, they can open a portal to Hell, directly into Lucifer's Cage.
Fairy Summoning Spell - This spell can allow Fairies to travel from Avalon to Earth, Wayne said he could cross dimensions to get to Lucifer's Cage as well.
