With his children Jared, Lee, and Missy Bender, he abducted people, let them loose in the woods, and then hunted them down. This was their plan for Sam Winchester, and later Dean Winchester, but the brothers managed to turn the tables on the family. Pa Bender was "shot while escaping" by Deputy Kathleen Hudak.
