After a hunt gone wrong leaves Maggie's (guest star Katherine Evans) whereabouts unknown, Sam, Dean, Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) and Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver) race to find her, but what they find are their own worst nightmares.
Plot[]
The hunters from Apocalypse World are bored with hanging around the bunker, so Sam has started sending them out on missions. He sends Maggie alone to investigate some disappearances near a historic house. When she fails to check in, Sam and Dean go looking for her. They pose as investigators assessing the house for a historic homes listing and find that Mary and Bobby', after hearing that Maggie was missing, are already there doing the same thing.
The house is owned by Patrick Rawling, who is bed-ridden and being looked after by his carer Neil. Mary & Sam and Bobby & Dean head out to explore the grounds. Mary tells Sam that while she enjoys hunting with Bobby it's all he interested in and he's never opened up to her about anything, totally the opposite of John. Dean and Bobby find a shack in the woods. Bobby is dragged off, Dean is attacked by the Patrick Rawling who turns to dust when Dean stabs him. Sasha Rawling, Patrick's daughter who is hoping to resolve an estrangement to her father is chased by a vampire in the house. Sam finds Maggie strung up in a Jinn's lair being bled and rescues her. In the woods, Daniel, Bobby's dead son appears. Daniel blames Bobby for his death and attacks him beating him senseless. Mary hears Bobby's screams arrives and shoots Daniel, to no effect. Bobby stabs him and he turns to dust.
They return to the house where Dean figures out Neil is a Jinn who has been creating illusions and bleeding Patrick, and anyone else who comes to the house. He says the house is a trap set up by Michael to kill hunters. Lacking lamb's blood, Dean beats Neil to death with an ashtray.
Back at the bunker Mary is patching up Bobby. Bobby confesses that he didn't want Mary to know, but he sent his only son Daniel on a mission during the Angel Wars, from which he never returned. After that he was consumed with guilt and threw himself into killing angels, and since he arrived in this world hunting relentlessly. Mary suggests that they take a break from monsters while Bobby recuperates at a cabin that Donna has made available to the hunters.

- The episode was watched by 1.43 million viewers and had a 0.3 rating.
- This is the second time Supernatural has hit the 0.3 rating mark, with War of the Worlds being the first one.
- This is Darren Grant's directorial debut on Supernatural.
- The alternate Bobby Singer is revealed to have had a son named Daniel, contrary to the Main Universe Bobby Singer who refused to have children with his wife before her death. This Bobby also lost his wife under unnatural circumstances.
- Mary Winchester is revealed to have feelings for the alternate Bobby.
- Sam and Dean make a reference to The Walking Dead on which Jeffrey Dean Morgan currently stars as Negan.
- Somehow, Dean's fears and nightmares were enough to shock the djinn Neil when he read them.
- Neil is Dean's first kill since his return from being Michael's vessel.
- Dean shooting Neil several times after he was already dead is similar to how Dean did the same thing to the shapeshifter Olivia in Season 10's Ask Jeeves. In both cases, the monster is the first thing Dean has killed after returning from not being himself, but with Olivia, Dean may have been under the influence of the Mark of Cain. With Neil, Dean was just genuinely making sure he was dead.
- This is the first time Garth has been mentioned since Season 12's Who We Are.
- The way the 'vampires' explode into ash when staked is almost identical to how vampires are killed in Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
