In 1956, after a series of investigations, he lead a special minute of meeting on the matter of Cuthbert Sinclair expulsion. He indicted Cuthbert with seven counts of breaching of rules and misconducts. The most severe is creation of Werther Box, an enchanted vault with potent protection magic beyond Men of Letters handling with 98% lethality rate. The project was executed without Men of Letters oversight, and two Men of Letters, Fletcher and Martinez, died in vain.
While Cuthbert argued defending the reason behind its creation, Markham and other members disagreed. They decided to shut down the project and expelled him. He later asked Cuthbert about how to turned the box off. Cuthbert only simply tell them to follow the Martinez way and cynically tell them that they have no guts to continued it before leaving. Knowing that they cannot losing more members unnecessarily, Markham ordered the place where Werther Box resided buried and guarded in perpetuity.
When Abbadon attack the order in 1958, Markham also died with other members. With the order gone, the task for guarding the box also stopped.
