Misha Collins, born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic, is an American actor who portrays Castiel and several other characters in Supernatural. He also directed Season 9's Mother's Little Helper.

He was introduced on the series as a guest star during season 4 but was later promoted to a series regular for seasons 5 and 6 before being demoted again during seasons 7 and 8 and then he was promoted to a series regular again for season 9 to present.

Background

Collins is an American actor who has appeared in episodes of 24, NCIS and ER, as well as the movies Par 6 and Karla. He also had a starring role in the made-for-television movie Stonehenge Apocalypse, where he played scientist Jacob Glaser.

Misha also starred in Moving Alan, alongside actor Mark Pellegrino.

On Twitter, Misha previously dubbed his followers as "minions". Recently, he refers to them as his "friends".

Collins has also spent time in Russia and has also successfully mastered the accent which gave him an edge when he played the assassin Alexis Drazen on 24.

In 2016, Misha launched a GISHWHES campaign, urging fans to participate and help other people.

In 2017, Misha created his own website .

  • Misha often talks about being bullied by co-stars Jared and Jensen while on set. Even while directing, Jared and Jensen assaulted him with pies to the face, among other things.
  • When asked by fans what supernatural being he wanted to be, Misha answered "a unicorn".
  • Misha was among two actors who auditioned for the role of Castiel, the other being Mark Pellegrino. Misha ultimately won the role and later got to portray Mark's character, Lucifer.
  • Misha once expressed his distaste in wearing the same outfit all the time. The producers ultimately gave in to his complaints and got rid of Castiel's trench coat in season 9 episode "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here".
  • It was revealed that he was only meant to be on the show for three episodes but due to the positive feedback from the fans and the producers, they've decided to promote him to a series regular.
  • Misha believes Castiel would prefer being an angel rather a human, because he gets to have superpowers.
  • Misha revealed that the surname "Collins" was his mother's mother's mother's maiden name.
    • Before using the surname "Collins" as a stage name, Misha had planned to use "Bear" instead. He chose Collins because he felt less of a sell-out by using a family name.
  • Misha has cited that "The French Mistake" and "Baby" are his favorite episodes.
  • During SDCC 2017, Misha revealed that his favorite prop was Dean Winchester.
