Background[]
Late at night while walking home to her apartment, Meredith began to feel uneasy. As she neared her apartment, she looked over her shoulder and saw the shadow of a man on the wall of a building. The silhouette began to follow her, causing her to break into a run. She dashed across the street and finally reached her apartment.
Frantically, she grabbed her keys and hurried to find the right one. She then got inside and slammed the door shut. Meredith set up the alarm and got herself a beer. As she began listening to messages on her answering machine, a shadow began to form on the wall inside the apartment. It began as a swirling cloud of smoke and morphed into the silhouette of a tall, skinny creature. The creature's shadow slowly moved towards Meredith's shadow on the wall. It stuck its long, sharp-nailed fingers through Meredith's chest, killing her.
A week later, Sam and Dean arrived in Chicago to investigate her death, and soon discovered that she was killed by Meg using a daeva.
