Summary[]

Official episode synopsis for Masters of War from The CW:

FIGHTER’S INSTINCT – After the details of a veteran’s death don’t add up, Carlos (JoJo Fleites) brings everyone in to investigate and he shares a detail about his past that makes John (Drake Rodger) see him in a new light. Mary (Meg Donnelly) finds an unexpected ally who has been hot on the trail of this monster and Latika (Nida Khurshid) tries to help Mary heal and find closure with someone she lost. Meanwhile, John’s habit of running headfirst into danger leaves Millie (Bianca Kajlich) worried for her son. John Kretchmer directed the episode written by Julia Cooperman (#104). Original Airdate 11/1/2022.

Plot[]

The episode opens with Dean narrating over a wide view of Lawrence Kansas. John and Mary are in a backyard training, when Mary suggests taking a break. John doesn’t want to stating that he’s just getting warmed up. He makes a remark of his time in the military which Mary finds amusing and lets out a light giggle. They get back to training and John is going harder this time with his punches. Mary can sense John’s tension, so she takes her gloves off to fight back so John can blow off some steam. John doesn’t want to hurt Mary so he holds back, allowing Mary to quickly overpower him and put him on the ground. She then gets on top of him and puts him in an arm bar. Carlos comes out to see them in their current position and asks them if he’s interrupting anything. They both immediately sit up in embarrassment and reply no, stating that they’re just sparring. Carlos asks if that is what the kids are calling it these days, right before Mary brushes some grass off of John’s chest. Carlos asks them to come in once they’re done with their little mating ritual, as Lata and him have news.
