Marv is the vessel of Metatron. He seems to be from a distant time in human history, because he was friends with a tribe of Native Americans, and may have lived during the European colonization of the Americas.

Little else is known about him, though he appears to be lactose intolerant. Metatron also commented that he was not as good-looking as Castiel's vessel.

When Castiel removed Metatron's grace and turned him into a human, it is unknown if Marv continued to share his body with the former angel or had he been dead for a long time.

His body was imploded by the Darkness, thus certainly ending his life along with Metatron's.

Trivia

It is implied by Metatron that Marv was not his only vessel.
Metatron used the name "Marv Corp" for his company when he became a videographer.
When Sam got far into the trials, he started resonating with this man.
