Marksmanship is the application of firearms or ranged weapons in the art of combat.
Characters with this ability[]
Master Marksman[]
- Dean Winchester: Dean is shown to be a highly proficient marksman, having been trained by his father John since childhood. He rarely misses his targets, and he is highly proficient with a variety of firearms. On multiple occasions, Dean has been able to outdraw and kill Monsters in impromptu duels, such as when he killed the Phoenix Elias Finch or the Werewolf Joy Myers. Dean's marksmanship even extends to throwing knives and other weapons, which was highlighted when he threw an angel blade at Harrington to save Donatello Redfield, accurately hitting Harrington in the neck and impressing both his brother Sam and Donatello. An Alternate Dean was shown to be just as skilled in marksmanship, capable of killing several Demons through accurate shots with Angel-killing bullets
- Sam Winchester: Like his brother Dean, Sam is shown to be a highly proficient marksman. He rarely misses his targets, and even when he has been impaired or weakened, he has been able to kill his targets with accurate shots. This is best shown when, still in severe pain from his own gunshot wound, he killed Corbin Tilghman with a single shot before Corbin could kill Dean.
- John Winchester: Trained by the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, John was an expert marksman even before he became a Hunter. After becoming a Hunter, his marksmanship only increased to the point of mastery. He was able to consistently hit the Shtriga after bursting into the room to prevent it feeding on Sam any further, though due to it's invulnerability when not feeding, he was unable to kill it.
- Bobby Singer: As a veteran Hunter, Bobby has shown himself to be highly proficient when it comes to firearms. On one occasion, he was able to shoot a moving target with his eyes closed, made more notable by the fact that he was in the woods at night when he did it.
- Arthur Ketch: A highly trained operative by the British Men of Letters, Ketch has shown himself to be a highly skilled marksman with firearms. Alongside Dean, he was able to gun down several angels with little difficulty.
Expert Marksman[]
- Castiel: Though Castiel is rarely shown making use of ranged weapons, he is shown to be an expert marksman when he needs to make use of them. On one occasion, he used an angel blade as a throwing knife, throwing it into the neck of one of Raphael's Loyalists. He has developed some skill with firearms during his time working with the Winchesters, having been able to use shotguns quite accurately. An Alternate Castiel was a skilled enough marksman with firearms to survive for five years into the Apocalypse, even after his powers had faded.
- Crowley: While Crowley rarely uses firearms, he is shown to be an expert marksman who is willing to use them when he needs to. He was able to accurately shoot two Demons in the head with The Colt, avoiding hitting Sam and Dean in the process. He was later able to kill Esper with a single shot from his Angel-Killing Gun, as well as shoot Castiel in the gut with enough accuracy to avoid killing him.
- Virgil: As the Keeper of Heaven's Weapons, Virgil was highly trained in the use of most weapons, and surprisingly, he was shown to be quite adept when it came to human weaponry too. He specifically chose the guns he used for their capacity, and was shown to be an expert marksman when using them, successfully gunning down several humans.
- Hunters: Most Hunters are shown to be highly proficient Marksman when it comes to ranged weapons. Their marksman backgrounds vary, with some having a military or police background, such as John Winchester and Jody Mills, or being born into hunter families, such as Mary Winchester and Jo Harvelle, and others seeking out their own training from unknown sources, such as Gordon Walker..
