On a case, Dean figures to swing by his old lover's house that's in the same location as the case itself, and Lisa said he come in and that it's Ben's birthday. Ben said the party his mom set up is sweet. Ben starts acting weird, and he tells her its not really Ben, but she doesn't believe him and tells he needs to get out. He returns the real Ben to her, and heads in to catch up on lost time.
As he prepares to give over his consent to Michael, he stops by Lisa's place, and tells her no matter what happens, she'll be safe but that there's something he has to do, but she said he doesn't have to. After stopping The Apocalypse in its tracks, he goes to see Lisa and said if her beer offer is still on the table, and she lets him on in. In a mysterious turn of events, Sam returns from Lucifer's cage and watches Dean take part in dinner with the Braedens from outside next to street light.
In bed, Dean and Lisa, wake up in the bed their sharing, after the alarm clock goes off, and they kiss and get ready for the morning. In the kitchen, Dean is making breakfast eggs for Ben, who is sitting at the counter. Outside, Dean is loading his truck with his tools for work. After work, the house is host to a cook out, where Dean hands neighbor Sid a beer, while he flips the burgers on the grill. Outside the garage, he shows Ben the basics of car maintenance. At night, he gets ready to head for bed and shuts the shades and locks the door. He takes a look at the neighbors, checks on Ben and goes to bed, with a holy water and a gun under his bed. The next day, he's on his computer looking up the calls to police on the dispatch website for anything monstrous. Lisa comes down in her bathrobe asking who that was he was talking to because of how late it was, and he said it was Sid, that he wanted to set up a poker game. He said no worries, he'll be right up. He looks around to make sure everything is good, and checks at under the carpet the Devil's Trap he spray painted to make sure it's still there. After he gets back from work, he draws his gun and checks a nearby shed with claw marks on it, but sees a little dog. Sid spots him and said wow, is that a gun. Dean said no and quickly hides it, but said well, yeah it was. He said he got a permit for it, and Said said, to what, shot the Glickman's dog. Dean thinks up a lie, and said he thought that that was a possum and that he was doing his job as pest exterminator as he claims he explained him to at an earlier time. He's like crap, and Sid asks what's up, as Dean rubs his finger on sulfur. Dean goes to his garage, and grabs a duffle bag for his hunting gear he gets from the Impala, as a soccer balls drops off the shelf. He hears Lisa coming, and tries to act like he was just getting tools. She said she just ran into Sid, and asks if he almost shot a Yorkie. He said, technically but nothing's going on. And she said then how come I don't believe you. He said it felt like his Spidey sense was going off, and she asked if he was hunting something, and he responded that at first he kinda thought so, but that he probably got worked up over nothing. He said just to make sure, how about she and Ben go out to the movies while he does one last sweep. She said fine, just be careful. He takes out his father's journal, and the lights flicker. He takes out his gun, and the soccer ball gets kicked out from the shadows. He turns around, and The Yellow Eyed Demon Azazel appears, and asks him how he gets the lawn so green and if he really thought he'd get to keep the normal life, as he chokes him. Then, Sam, like he comes of of nowhere, stabs Dean with an antidote, and Azazel vanishes.
After it's revealed that Djinn were in the town causing hallucinations, Dean tells Sam he's got to take him home right away, and their resurrected grandfather Samuel Campbell and the extended family who was in hiding for some many years, accompany him. Sam speeds to the driveway in his sports car, and Dean calls for Lisa and Ben but doesn't hear anything and the house is dark and empty. The hunter Samuel told him was there to check on them, died of overdose of Djinn poison. He uses he home phone to make a call to Lisa's cellphone, but no one answers, but just then, Lisa and Ben come inside. He hugs them and asks where the hell were they, and she said at the movies, but that he already knew that. Ben asks what happened, and Dean told him to go pack a bag. Lisa tells Ben it's okay, and as he heads to his room, he sees Sam. Dean said he doesn't know if they remember or not but that it's, and Lisa cuts him off, saying it's Sam. The hunters remeet up at the house, to lure the Djnnin pack. Gwen makes some fun of Dean's "wife"'s girly magazines. Mark is holding up a framed picture, and Dean tells him hey don't touch that. Sam fiddles with Dean's golf club, and Dean said it's a sport. Samuel said it's a pretty nice house, and Dean said say it, call him a soccer mom, and Samuel said no problem, he'll just have to look that up on the Internet. Mark is keeping watch outside, and hands over his binoculars to Dean, and he sees the Djinn hiding in the trees. Dean said they have to come up with new plan, their not falling for it. The team pulls out, to slowly draw the Djinn out of their positions. Dean said it's all too much, that what does the thing or force who brought Sam and Samuel back want, and Sam said good question. Dean looks across the streets, and seess Sid and his wife getting attacked. He goes for the antitode to run over to save them, but Sam said their already gone. Dean still tries, and hops over the fence to the other side to help. Dean tells Sam to keep in touch but that he doesn't want to leave them behind.
He goes to the Impala inside the garage, and looks at the hunting weapons and puts it away and hides the key so no one can find it. He brings in the last of the boxes, the kitchenware box inside. Ben goes for his bike to ride around the block, but Dean said not until he helps Lisa with unpacking. Lisa said they can check things out later and get lunch, and asks Dean if that sounded good. Dean said come on to Ben, to give him a hand. The Pizza Man is at the door, and hands Dean the pizza he ordered and Dean gives him cash in return. Lisa said she thought they were going out, but she guesses they might have paper plates. Dean catches Ben playing around with his gun in the garage, saying he just wanted to play with it for a little bit. Dean tells him to shut up about the gun, and Ben said sorry and runs off. Hours later, Lisa said Ben's wont come out of his room. Dean said it was just that he got into his tools and it won't happen again. Sam calls Dean to come on a hunt with him, but Dean said he can't, that he's out for good. Sam said if he doesn't do what he said, he'll drive up to his door. Dean hands Lisa a gun, and she said, yeah she got it, almost impressing him with her proficiency. She said, it's all good if he goes, and jokingly if he doesn't go help his brother, she'll shoot him. At the end of the hunt, Lisa tells him, he's meant to go hunt with his brother and to come when he can and that she and Ben will always be there for him. After Dean gets infected with a vampire infection, he takes on vampiristic nature and goes to feed on Lisa and Ben at the house. However, he fights it off, and leaves. On the case involving people forced to tell the truth, Lisa calls Dean, wanting to discuss what happened. He said maybe later, but she said he shoved Ben and that it should be done now. The truth curse takes her over, and she said that she knew that moment Sam came back it was all over, and that it's okay to be close to him but he has a toxic relationship, but said that came out way harsher than she meant. She said its the end of the line for them. Some time later, on the possession of Mannequin case, Ben calls out of the blue, and tells Dean to come quick, that Lisa is acting weird. Sam tells him he can handle the case by himself, and to go deal with his past. Dean makes it, but it guard off guard to see Lisa fine and going on date night with her boyfriend Matt. She said she wants him, but knows people can't always get their way or what they want. In Ben's bedroom, he sits on the bed and has a talk. He said, to put it like it is, just because he loves them doesn't mean he should stick around and screw up their life.
Lisa and Matt are watching the football game, and then Crowley sends his demons to break into the house to take Lisa and Ben as hostages to get Dean and Sam to back off trying to fight him on getting to Purgatory. The demons kick down the door, and kill Matt right before he eyes, and Ben calls Dean for help. He tells him to jump out his window, and that any broken bones will pale into comparison what they'll do to him. He makes his way to the window, but Crowley gets to him.
