He's devout. Trumps everything.

Kenneth Lee "Ken" Lay (April 15, 1942 – July 5, 2006) was an American businessman.

Background[]

History[]

Lay was the CEO and chairman of Enron Corporation. He was found guilty of 10 counts of securities fraud, which led to the bankruptcy of Enron. He apparently died of a heart attack three months before his sentencing. A private funeral for about 200 people was held in Aspen four days after his death. A memorial service was held a week after, attended by 1,100 guests, including former President George W. Bush.

Season 6[]

Upon his death, Lay was accepted into Heaven due to being devout, and which according to Raphael, trumps everything. In a meeting with Castiel, the Archangel Raphael decided to "borrow" Ken Lay's home in Heaven. When Castiel refused to follow Raphael's wishes, Raphael used his powers to knock Castiel "into next week".

After consuming numerous souls, Castiel used his newfound strength to return the favor and blast Raphael out of Ken Lay's heaven.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • Ken Lay's heaven features a portrait of George W. Bush.
  • Ken Lay's admittance into Heaven, which was detested by Castiel, might be a reference to the popular belief that no matter the greatness of one's sin, a devout Christian can still go to Heaven.
