After Kelly's father Brian dies from an unusual death, Dean Winchester comes to investigate and talks with Kelly's nanny, Stacey. Stacey admits that Kelly had been upset over her parents being busy since it was her birthday the day before. Stacey had decided to take Kelly to Plucky's, but a kid ended up convincing Kelly that her parents didn't really love her. Stacey was forced to spend hours trying to calm Kelly down.
When Dean asks if there was anything strange going on in the house, Stacey reveals Kelly's fear of a monster living inside her closet. The information brings Dean to believe that Kelly had made a birthday wish against her father. When Sam spots Kelly drawing outside her house, he tries to talk to her, only to be rebuffed since Kelly was told she should not talk to Sam, or her mother will get mad.
When Sam inquires as to why her mother will get mad, Kelly informs Sam that she had tried to warn her father about the monsters before they got to him. Kelly is eventually called back into the house by her unhappy mother. Later on, Kelly's drawing commits a murder, driving Sam and Dean to suspect someone is bringing these drawings to life.
