Joseph Fiddler was a cree indian hunter and was associated to his father, Jack, in the wendigo's hunt.

Joseph was born to cree indian hunter Jack Fiddler, a hunter who specialized in hunting endigo. He lived with his father in Ontario, Canada, and preyed on the local wendigo, all aided by his father, who was a well-known shaman in his tribe. In 1906, he and his father brutally murdered a Cree woman by dismembering her with an axe because she was going to turn into a wendigo due to her probable advanced cannibalism. The Fiddlers were arrested for the woman's murder and attempted to publicize the necessity of the woman's murder as well as its brutality. However, they were not taken seriously enough. Jack committed suicide before trial in October 1907 and Joseph's sentence for the woman's murder was the death penalty. Further appeals secured his release, but not enough for him to survive and be killed in 1909.
