Jonah Greeley was a ghost that haunted Highway 41 once a year.
Background[]
Jonah Greeley was a lifelong hunter and farmer who was married to his wife, Marion. He seemed to be a good man in life who truly loved his wife. On the night of February 22, 1992, Greeley was accidentally killed after being hit by a car driven by Molly McNamara, her husband David being the passenger. Spotting Greeley but unable to stop in time, Molly hit Greeley with her car before driving off of the road and into a tree.
Greeley was killed by being hit by the car while Molly died in the collision with the tree, though David survived with minor injuries. Greeley's body was eventually claimed by Marion, who buried him next to his hunting cabin and planted a tree as a grave marker. Unable to bear living without her husband, Marion locked herself in the attic of their house and committed suicide.
Following his death, Greeley remained on earth as a ghost but his rage over his own death turned him into a vengeful spirit. Every year on the anniversary of their deaths, Molly and Greeley's spirits would manifest on Highway 41 where they died and Greeley would chase down and torture Molly in revenge for his death. Unlike Molly, Greeley was aware that he was dead and why, while every year, Molly forgot their encounters after the sun came up and they disappeared for another year. Greeley's chases of Molly caused twelve accidents, five of which were fatal.
On February 22, 2007, the cycle started again for Molly and Greeley. This time, however, Molly ran into hunters Sam and Dean Winchester who were investigating the haunting. The Winchesters attempted to drive Molly to safety, but Greeley was able to disable the Impala. Greeley continuously chased Molly as the Winchesters searched for his grave, eventually capturing her and taking her to his hunting cabin to torture. As Greeley began to torture Molly, he was interrupted by Dean, whom he tried to kill. As Greeley and Dean struggled over a knife, Sam dug up his bones and salted and burned them. In immense pain, Greeley backed away from Dean and went up in flames with a scream, leaving behind his knife.

- In the novel Supernatural: Bone Key, Bobby Singer explained that the reason Greeley and Molly were corporeal was because all of the spiritual energy surrounding them was concentrated into that one night.
