Jacob Campbell was a character in Supernatural: Origins #1, he was the brother of Mary Winchester, brother-in-law of John Winchester and the maternal uncle of Sam and Dean Winchester.

History[]

In November of 1989, Jacob followed John to Tempe, Arizona to a house unbeknownst to them. Once the three had gone, Jacob demanded answers from Fletcher Gable on where they were going and then set out for the motel they were in.

At the motel, his sudden attempt to get into the room caused John to order his sons to hide to which they did but once Jacob revealed himself, John questioned why he was there as the former admitted that John was being driven by guilt in finding Mary's killer and that he was in no position to look after Sam and Dean, Jacob instead insisting that his nephews were better off with him.

Seeing no choice, John asked Jacob for his help and the two went to Hidden Hills Cemetery in the Impala where John attempted to find clues using the hellhound's tooth he had though Jacob told him that he would leave within ten minutes if nothing came up and that he would take his nephews with or without John.

When John identified a tombstone that had the same markings on as the tooth, the two walked over to it with Jacob opening the door but opening doing so, he was attacked and mortally wounded by the hellhound inside.

Death and aftermath[]

After being attacked by the hellhound, Jacob eventually succumbed to his wounds. After almost being attacked by the same hellhound, John was saved by a man who claimed he was a hunter named Hunter. Though John demanded Jacob be taken to a hospital, the hunter denied the idea stating that no hospital could save him.

Returning to the motel, John and the hunter took the latter's car to the edge of a cliff, placed Jacob's body inside and let it go into the river below.

When Hunter eventually admitted he was a demon, he taunted John for trusting him and brought up how John had been fine with going through with the idea to dispose of Jacob's body.
