Jack's Quest refers to a series of supernatural tasks Jack had to complete in order to become strong enough to kill God. The nephilim was sent on this path by Billie to prevent God from destroying the main universe.

Background[]

When Sam and Dean Winchester went against God's wish to kill Jack Kline, God became wrathful and killed the nephilim. Jack was sent to the Empty, where he was greeted by the Shadow and Billie. Jack was kept hidden in the empty until it was safe for him to return to Earth. God had a few confrontations with the Winchesters for a while before deciding to leave the main universe to wipe out the rest of the multiverse. Jack was then resurrected by Billie in order to enact the plan designed to destroy God before the main universe is destroyed.

Billie teleports Jack into the Empty

About to detonate, Jack was sent to the Empty by Billie.

The Quest had three main components. According to Billie, the first quest was "meant to strengthen Jack's body", while step two was "more spiritual in nature". The third quest, when initiated, could not be stopped. It was eventually revealed that the ritual was meant to transform Jack into a powerful bomb akin to a "metaphysical supernova", which will turn Jack into a living black hole that could trap and kill divine beings like God and the Darkness.

The plan did not go as intended, as God successfully convinced the Darkness to fuse with him, immensely strengthening his powers. God also revealed he was aware of Billie's plan all along. As God escaped, Jack was starting to detonate. Billie sent him to the Empty with the Shadow, the only being capable of absorbing such a blast. The explosion appeared to have annihilated the Shadow, but the cosmic being was able to reconstruct itself afterwards. Jack survived despite initial claims the detonation would destroy him as well. Billie revealed that she had only said that killing God and Amara would be fatal to Jack which Castiel realizes is because it would've created a chain reaction.

Upon Jack's return to Earth, he began to passively siphon energy around him. While it started on a very small scale such as with nearby plants, it eventually allowed Jack to absorb the energy from supernatural beings using their powers or dying in the vicinity of Jack. After being exposed to Lucifer and Michael's fight, and, later, deaths, Jack became powerful enough to actively drain God and Amara's combined power.

Quests[]

  • The first quest involved hunting Grigori and eating their hearts
  • The second quest involved finding the Occultum, which restored Jack's soul
