Isaiah Merchant's bones were the bones left by Isaiah Merchant after his death and were what tied his ghost to the Earth.
History[]
After his and his family's murder by his adopted daughter Melanie, Isaiah Merchant was wrongfully accused of the horrific crime. As a result, instead of cremating Isaiah along with his wife and three kids, his family decided that they didn't want his remains. As a result, Isaiah was turned over to the county and given a pauper's burial.
Over the better part of the next century, Isaiah's bones acted to tie his ghost to the Earth as a Death Omen that haunted the family painting, attempting to warn people about his daughter's ghost who also haunted the painting and murdered the various owners.
In 2006, hunters Sam and Dean Winchester investigated Melanie's murders and like everyone else, came to the wrong conclusion that Isaiah was the culprit. After Isaiah's alterations to the painting led them to the Merchant family crypt, they discovered that Isaiah's ashes were not with his family and a search through the county records revealed the true fate of Isaiah's remains. Still believing Isaiah to be the culprit, the Winchesters and Sarah Blake dug up his bones and salted and burned them, putting Isaiah's ghost to rest.
