Look, I could uh get it together to uh battle, if you want. I mean, none of the angels are exactly thrilled with your uh "ongoing adventures." But personally? Nah... Hey, hey, between us, if you wanna just... say we fought and angel blade me right now? That'll be okay.
— Indra to Castiel
in Funeralia

Indra is an angel who was assigned to guard the Heavenly Portal. He is one of the last remaining angels in Creation

History[]

Castiel meets Indra at Heavenly Portal

Castiel meets Indra at the Heavenly Portal

When Castiel arrives in the playground where the Heavenly Portal is located, Indra is drinking on the jungle gym as Castiel calls out for anyone with confusion. Indra shushes Castiel who he is surprised to see. Complimenting Castiel on his angel blade, Indra asks if they are going to fight, apparently annoyed with the thought. Castiel tells Indra that he is not, he just wants to get into Heaven. To Castiel's shock, Indra's only response is to ask who is stopping Castiel.

Surprised by Indra's response, Castiel admits that it wasn't the welcome he was expecting, causing Indra to tell him that they are all having to learn to live with disappointment lately. Indra admits that he could "get it together" to fight if Castiel wants and the angels aren't pleased with Castiel's "ongoing adventures," but dismisses the idea and takes a drink instead. Castiel is shocked to see that Indra is drinking and he admits that he wants to "take the edge off."

Annoyed, Castiel tells Indra that guarding the Gates of Heaven is an important responsibility, but Indra is incredulous that Castiel thinks guarding the portal is an important responsibility. Indra suggests that Castiel can say they fought and kill him right now which "would be okay." Castiel is stunned by this request and asks if its a joke. Growing more serious, Indra asks if it is a joke and simply tells Castiel to see for himself rather than explaining what he means or his behavior. Sitting on a seahorse, Indra wishes his brother luck "for what its worth" and watches as Castiel enters Heaven and continues to drink.

When Castiel returns to Earth with Naomi, Indra is not in the playground with the portal. He has presumably returned to Heaven as Naomi declares that she is going to seal the portal until the situation in heaven is resolved.

Personality[]

Due to the state of Heaven and the angels, Indra is in a state of depression by the time Castiel meets him outside of the Heavenly Portal. He shows a desire to drink alcohol to "take the edge off," is neglectful of his duty and is possibly suicidal given his all but request for Castiel to kill him.

Powers and Abilities[]

Indra appeared to be a regular angel with all the powers of one.

  • Angelic Possession - Like all other angels, he requires a vessel to walk the Earth and their permission to do so.
  • Immortality - As an angel, he would never age or die unless killed.
  • Invulnerability - As an angel, he is invulnerable to most forms of harm.

Weaknesses[]

He possesses all the regular weaknesses of an angel.

  • Angel Blades - Like most angels, he could be killed by an angel blade. In his depressed state, he all but begged Castiel to kill him using one.

Appearances[]
