Immunity is a being's resilience or total impervious nature to supernatural powers, objects, effects, or forces that affect other members of its species. It appears that a creature's age, power level, and/or rank within its species hierarchy dictates if it is immune to its species' weaknesses and to what degree it is immune.

Characters with Immunity

  • Sam Winchester - He is completely immune to Croatoan Virus and demonic photokinesis. Sam is initially susceptible to Lilith's powers, but drinking demon blood he gained complete immunity. During his soulless stint, Sam was completely immune to the truth spell of Veritas. While Death was bound to him, Sam was temporarily immune to and incapable of dying.
  • Dean Winchester - He is completely immune to being made a Rabid due to the influence of the Darkness. While imbued with the power of the Mark of Cain, he became completely immune to Gaelic Obliteration Spell. Dean is initially susceptible to Abaddon's powers, but holding The First Blade he gained completely immunity. While Death was bound to him, Dean was temporarily immune to and incapable of dying.
  • Bobby Singer - While Death was bound to him, Bobby was temporarily immune to and incapable of dying.
  • Lily Sunder - Lily has displayed an immunity to angelic abilities.
  • Angels
  • Nephilim
  • Demons
    • White-eyed Demons as the most powerful and durable demons ever to exist, are immune to hallowed ground and at least highly resistant, but not even immune to holy water. Both Lilith as well as Alastair.
      • Alastair was completely immune to hallowed ground, the smiting power of average angels, and iron. He had limited immunity to the demon-killing knife[1], Salt and Holy water. Even after Sam Winchester proved capable of exorcising a powerful multicolor-eyed demon with his mind, he could only tickle Alastair in the beginning of Season 4. (Alastair went on to lose that resistance as Sam built his powers.) So far, he's the only demon proven to be immune to smiting by angels at all.
      • Lilith is immune to hallowed ground and possibly to holy water. She was at first completely immune to Sam's powers, even when they proved capable of eliminating Alastair, but later lost this immunity when Sam got stronger by binging on demon blood. She's also displayed partial immunity to the devil's trap, in that she retains some of her abilities, such as telekinesis and terrakinesis; she was able to use them to quickly expel a devil's trap bullet that was inserted into her vessel's body. It can be assumed that she is immune to an angel smiting, since this is the case of Alastair, a fellow white-eyed demon who is inferior to Lilith in both rank and strength.
    • The Princes of Hell, as the oldest of the old demons after Lilith, possessed much stronger durability than the other regular demons.
    • The only known multicolor-eyed demon Samhain was completely immune to iron. He resisted Sam's psychic exorcism better than other demons Sam had faced until then, but he was ultimately overcome by it.
    • Knights of Hell, as one of the first fallen, first born demons, cannot be killed with the ancient demon-killing knives of the Kurds, but at least some of them are not entirely immune to it. The Knights of Hell are supposed to have only one fatal vulnerability, the First Blade when wielded by someone bearing the Mark of Cain.
      • Cain was completely immune to the demon-killing knife[3] and the angelic white light. As a Knight of Hell with the Mark, he has only one fatal weakness, the First Blade wielded by someone bearing the Mark of Cain, so it can be presumed that Cain was also immune to angel blades and angelic smiting. He also displayed partial immunity to the devil's trap as he stated the trap couldn't hold him for a long time and that he retained a part of his super strength and his telekinesis.
      • Dean - As a Knight of Hell, Dean was supposed to be immortal and immune to most forms of harm, except for the First Blade when wielded by someone bearing the Mark of Cain. He also displayed partial immunity to holy water.
      • Abaddon was completely immune to exorcism rites and hallowed ground. The demon-killing knife[4] caused her acute pain, and holy fire could destroy her vessel, but neither could kill her. She also displayed partial immunity to holy water.
    • Crowley was immune to hallowed ground; he had some resistance to holy water and great resistance to Rowena's demon-killing spell.
    • Black-eyed Demons as the most commonly and weakest kind of demons, they can easy be killed by the demon-killing knife, angel blades, the colt.
      • Meg was immune to hallowed ground.
      • Ruby was immune to hallowed ground.
      • Casey had some immunity to the devil's trap; she became paralyzed when inside one, but she could still cause brief earthquakes and some weather phenomena.
    • Sam Winchester - Sam is completely immune to the Croatoan Virus, and also to demons' powers when he feeds on the blood of people being used as vessels by demons. He is initially susceptible to Lilith's powers, but quickly develops complete immunity to them.
  • Ghosts
  • Leviathans and Eve - Leviathans and Eve are immune to angelic powers, since they can block them.
  • Monsters
