The Animal-Human Mind Meld is an Inuit spell that allows the union of a human and an animal's mental and sensory faculties. The Men of Letters had information about this ritual in their headquarters. This ritual would allow effective communication between the animal and the person who drank the solution. Additionally, as animals used a universal language, the person who participated in the mind meld would also be able to communicate with other animals. The spell apparantly lasts about a day before wearing off.
Certain characteristics of the animal whose body part was used in the solution would be exhibited by the human. In Dean's case, he exhibited the olfactory sense of a dog, as well as the scratching methods and preference for playing fetch.
Procedure
The ritual required several materials to be mixed together to form a solution. The most important ingredient is a piece of an animal's body part, such as a strand of fur. A spell then has to be recited. The spell is in Inuit language:
