This Unnamed Reaper is a character featured in Supernatural: The Animation.

During the episode In My Time of Dying, when Dean Winchester ends up in a coma, the reaper appears to his disembodied spirit. She takes on the form of his late mother, Mary Winchester, and tries to convince Dean to move on and join her in the afterlife.

Sam however, begins studying about reapers and Dean deduces that the woman he sees is not his mother, but a reaper. The reaper drops her motherly act upon being confronted and tells Dean bluntly that no one can cheat Death. Since Dean desperately wants to stay behind, the reaper says she will let him, and informs Dean that by doing so, he was going to become the very thing he hunts: a vengeful spirit.

Their interaction is cut short when John makes a deal with Azazel to have the demon resurrect Dean. To do this, Azazel takes possession of the reaper and uses her powers to save Dean.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Shapeshifting - The reaper was able to take the form of Dean's mother.
  • Resurrection - When Azazel possessed her, he used this power to put Dean's soul back into his physical body.
  • Voice Mimicry - The reaper was able to replicate the voice of Dean's mother.

  • Azazel - Azazel was able to possess her.

  • This reaper is loosely based on Tessa from the TV series. In the original version, the reaper took the form of a young woman who was dying, as opposed to pretending to be Dean's mother.
