Overview[edit | edit source]
Originally the name of a primordial who created the Multiverse, God, the name came to hold much meaning and weight among God's own creations, hence some individuals have taken to call themselves "God" in order to appear more authoritative and powerful.
The most well-known users are the pagan deities, who have been referred to as gods by human societies that chose to worship them. When worship for the original God began with the Hebrew people, the deities were then regarded as fakes and became known as monsters instead.
Another well-known individual is Castiel, an angel who obtained great power from souls and Leviathans he took from Purgatory. After obliterating his rival, Raphael, Castiel took charge over Heaven and commanded all his siblings and his human friends to recognize him as the "New God".
In the absence of the real God, this title went unchallenged until the Leviathans inside Castiel made an escape, leading to Castiel's death.
When God's scribe Metatron ejected the angels from Heaven and sent them to earth, he took over Heaven as God's replacement. Ironically enough, like the real God/Chuck, Metatron enjoyed writing stories.
Another individual is Lucifer, who after taking control over Hell, went to Heaven and took charge of the angels, telling them that if it makes them comfy, they can call him "God". Lucifer lost this position when Amara kidnapped him, allowing the angels the opportunity to reject him.
God himself has rarely made use of his authority, preferring to hide among humans and live under the guise of a prophet and writer named Chuck Shurley, a name which he prefers to his actual name. This has led people to refer to him directly as "Chuck".
Crowley, while holding and channeling the Hand of God's power in the Rod of Aron, said "this is what it's like to be God".
Belphegor boasted that with a gazillion souls and demons he would become god-like.
Quotes[edit | edit source]
|“||You know, I never understood you pagans, always fighting, always happy to sell out your own kind. No wonder you forfeited this planet to us. You are worse than humans. You're worse than demons. And yet you claim to be gods. And they call me prideful.||”|
|“||I'm glad you made it, Sam. But the angel blade won't work, because I'm not an angel anymore. I'm your new God. A better one. So you will bow down and profess your love unto me, your Lord. Or I shall destroy you.||”|
in The Man Who Knew Too Much
|“||Hey, if it makes you comfy, you could call me God.||”|
in Hell's Angel
|“||Philippe: She thinks you're a god.
Michael: An archangel. But close.
