This is the Garden, man's beginning. (…) God loved them so. His prized creations, until he banished them and all of mankind from the perfection of the Garden. And he hid it away.
— The young girl to Jack.
in Destiny's Child
Something's different. I mean Jack is, uh -- well, he's been to the Garden. That's the crossroads of divinity and humanity. No one's been there since the exile of humanity until now. Till Jack.
Castiel to Sam and Dean.
in Destiny's Child

Created by God, the Garden of Eden is a paradise-like realm that can be accessed through the Occultum, a small metallic sphere. God created the Garden, which is the safest place in the universe, for some of the first humans. They resided in the garden before Lucifer corrupted their minds, and they were subsequently cast out. Castiel calls it "the crossroads between divinity and humanity."

History

Castiel heavily implied that human beings were developed after billions of years of evolution. God gave them a spiritual essence, known as a soul, and declared them his favorite creations.

God told all the angels in Heaven to bow down before these humans, and serve them. The archangel Lucifer refused to bow down before a species that was younger, and inferior to him. He claimed that they were "flawed, and murderous." He declared war against God and was eventually cast down to Earth.

God then created a secure paradise called the Garden of Eden, which can be accessed by swallowing a small metallic sphere, known as the Occultum. God placed the humans Adam, Lilith and Eve in the Garden to protect them from Lucifer.

Gadreel (God’s most trusted angel) was commanded to guard Eden from the fallen Lucifer, but Lucifer managed to trick Gadreel and sneak into the Garden. As payback for being cast out of Heaven, he corrupted Lilith's soul and made her into the first demon.

Still, in the Garden, Lucifer tricked Adam and Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. God cast them out of the Garden for disobeying him and subsequently created a realm called Hell, placing Lucifer, and Lilith there. He would later create a personal cage for Lucifer, as Hell could not contain him.

After the fall of humanity, God banished them from the Garden and hid it away. God forbade any human being from entering the Garden again and restricted access to the Garden through the Occultum.

In 2020, the Nephilim Jack Kline was instructed by Billie to find the Occultum as his next step towards becoming strong enough to kill God. Jack swallowed the Occultum and was transported to the Garden where he was greeted by what looked like a normal girl who explained where he was before vanishing. Jack was then talked to by an entity in the form of a snake that asked him who he truly was. All of Jack's past memories flooded his mind and Jack collapsed in tears before being transported back to Earth. On Earth, Castiel told the Winchesters that going to the Garden of Eden, the first being to visit since the exile of humanity had changed Jack. It was discovered that the Garden of Eden had restored Jack's lost soul to him.
