As some of you may have noticed, I have begun to update our wiki templates to provide more information on certain articles and to create a better tie-in to the canon source of our wiki. I have first proposed such templates to Calebchiam, to which he reponded positively.
New Templates[]
These are the first three templates I have proposed (the first two of which are already in effect).
Alias[]
![]() |
Who are you? This article is about a canonical subject whose real name is unknown, and is known only by a conjectural title, nickname or alias. |
- used on articles about characters without official names
Speedy Deletion
![]() |
I might actively wipe your kind from the face of the Universe. This article has been nominated for speedy deletion. |
- used on speedy deletion candidates
- this template may vary according to reasons for speedy deletion candidacy
Retcon/Conflict in Canon
![]() |
Your Bible gets more wrong than it does right. This article contains information that are canonical but may have been retconned, or contradicted by information that are also canon. |
- not yet in use--checking for articles in which this could be appropriately used (consider retcon of use of 'Christo', 4 vs. 5 archangels, John Winchester having a father in The Beginning, but no mention of Henry Winchester)
Calebchiam then suggested a template on articles with conjecture, which prompted me to think of other templates we may use in the wiki to help improve our standards and to notify our contributors and readers alike of the status of certain pages. Below are some more templates that I propose be put into effect in appropriate pages. I would like to hear your opinions on the following templates, which include, but are not limited to:
- a quote that conveys the message more appropriately
- an image that conveys the message more appropriately
- a new template covering a separate issue/status
New Proposals[]
Articles on Canon Subjects but with info from Non-canon sources
![]() |
The Titanic. Yes, well, uh, it was meant to sink, and I saved it. This article is about a canonical subject but contains information from sources that are not canon. |
- possible use: canon characters with information from sources that are official, but not officially declared as canon (i.e., the animated series, tie-in novels)
Articles on Subjects Appearing only in Official, but Non-canon sources[]
![]() |
Aliens? Aliens? This article is about a subject that is from official sources but is not considered canon. |
- possible use: characters appearing only in the animated series, tie-in novels, with no reference or mention at all from the live-action series
Articles that Require Expansion or Improvement[]
- possible use: articles that require overhauls in terms of content, grammar, verb tense, structure or outline
- can be removed when issue has been resolved
- may be merged or may replace the 'Stub' template
Articles Needing Better Images[]
![]() |
That's what you think the tooth fairy looks like, huh? This article lacks images, or requires images with better quality. |
- possible use: newly created pages without images, infobox of characters whose images are not updated, articles containing images with poor quality
- can be removed when issue has been resolved
Articles with Bias
- possible use: articles that are opinionated, articles written while drawing personal experiences, beliefs or ideas while drawing very little from canon information, articles that evoke offensive responses and are highly debatable
- can be removed when issue has been resolved
Disambiguation Pages[]
I have two proposals for this
![]() |
His name's Misha. Misha? This is a disambiguation page. You may be looking for another subject with a similar name. |
![]() |
You have me confused with the other angel. This is a disambiguation page. You may be looking for another subject with a similar name. |
- possible use: headers on all disambiguation pages (gives a quick explanation)
Articles that are mainly Conjectural[]
![]() |
What makes you think I can do that? This page contains conjecture or inductive logic about a subject that is not explicitly mentioned or explained in the canon. |
- possible use: articles like the timeline, Chuck as God, etc.
- consider use as 'section headings', instead of just 'article headings'
Locked Page
![]() |
Once the cage is shut, you can't go poking at it, Dean. This page has been temporarily locked due to vandalism. |
- possible use: locked pages
- can be removed once page lock has been lifted
Discussion[]
I would like to note that although some templates may not be usable in any article as of the moment, I would like the community to consider the possibility of still creating them for future use.
I am hopeful that the community will participate in this as I believe it will help us police articles that need clean up. Feel free to weigh in.
Also, a Wikia Contributor asked me to change the 'Spoiler' template into this format. However, I would like to hear the opinion of the community first--and frankly, I am yet to think of a quote that fits the 'Spoiler' template.

Initializing[]
If nobody else has issues on the new templates, I will begin working on the approved ones within this weekend. If anybody wishes to see the discussion on this or to provide their opinion, they are welcome to do so on my talk page.
Your thoughts on the matter are much appreciated.

Completed[]
I have created the following templates
I need help in documentation and setting parameters of use. I can personally do it, but my schedule has been packed lately, so if any admins or even contributors are willing to help, I would appreciate it very much.
New Proposals[]
I have thought of two new templates (but I am yet to develop fully fleshed-out concepts).
Merge[]
This template would be used on pages that need to be merged. My draft is using a photo of Benny being absorbed by Dean or Bobby being absorbed by Sam. Perhaps even angelic/demonic possession.
Split[]
This template would be used on pages that need to be split due to differences in topics covered, extensive length of article, incorrect grouping of subtopics, etc. I have no idea on this yet--unless we get a photo where the brothers used astral projection and see themselves beside their bodies.
Animated Series[]
This template will be posted on articles pertaining to the Animated series. This will replace the header that informs the reader that he/she may be looking for article on the live-action series counterpart. Characters appearing only in the animated series need not have the template 'NonCanon' on the articles, as thie 'Animated' template will cover that information. 'NonCanon' will now serve its purpose more on novel and tie-in characters.
![]() |
That's all, folks! This article is about a character appearing in the animated series, which is not canon. You may be looking for the live-action series counterpart. |
I will be working on a way to include the link of the live-action series counterpart within the template. If anybody knows, however, that this is impossible, please notify me.
Please post on my talk page for your opinions.

Completed[]
So I forgot to update this, the info banner template for the Animated Series has been completed. Please add the template for articles pertaining to Animated Series characters, events, objects, etc.
Template: Animated
Also, the NonCanon template has been modified to automatically include the page it is used on in the category "Non-Canon". The Alias template now also automatically classifies the article/page under "Unnamed Characters".

Update[]
I created a new template Unnamed which could be used for objects that were not yet named officially. For characters that are or were not named, use the Alias template. The Unnamed template automatically categorizes a page into 'Unnamed Subjects', whereas the Alias template does likewise to the category 'Unnamed Characters'. I have also put the latter category as a sub-category of the former.
