Fergus Roderick MacLeod (c. 1661-1723), later known as Crowley after his death, was the son of the witch Rowena MacLeod and a rich man. Eventually, he became the father of Gavin MacLeod whom he was abusive to due to his own upbringing.
History[]
Fergus MacLeod was born around 1661 to Rowena MacLeod, a witch and a rich man in Scotland. Due to Rowena seeing love as a weakness, Fergus was not raised with love with Rowena attempting to sell him for three pigs during his youth.
Sometime in 1713, Fergus sought out a crossroads demon and made a deal with them. Fergus died around the age of 63, in 1723 from either the deal or drinking himself to death. After his death, his soul was then condemned to hell where once tortured, he became the demon Crowley. He was briefly survived by his only son Gavin who buried his body before setting out for America prior to his own demise.
While in hell, Fergus continued to go by his Crowley moniker where upon coming back into contact with Rowena, remarked on how much he disliked his human name referring to it as a venereal disease and how his mother hated him enough to try have him sold for three pigs. During his time, Fergus obtained power by working up the ranks where he eventually became king of the crossroads.
His death was not known to Rowena until the two reunited in 2015 when Fergus, who was now Crowley, explained to his mother that he was not the Fergus she knew but was instead the demon named Crowley.
Relationships[]
As a human, Fergus had a terrible relationship with his mother, a witch named Rowena. In Hell, Crowley recalls how his mother once tried to trade him for 3 pigs, noting that he was a charming child, and felt that he was worth at least 5 pigs. He also recalled a strong disliking for his birthname: Fergus. He stated that "Fergus" sounds like a venereal disease, and he blames his mother for naming him such. When Fergus was 8 years old, his mother abandoned him in a workhouse, where Fergus would eventually learn how to be a tailor.
His mother later cited that she wanted to pursue power through witchcraft, and the dangers that come with it as the reason she abandoned him, as hunters hunted down witches and killed them. However, even before she abandoned him, Rowena showed no love towards Fergus, later citing her belief that love was a weakness. She later tells Fergus, then Crowley, that she didn't know who his real father was, as he was conceived during an orgy for the winter solstice.
However, while under the influence of a witch catcher, Fergus, then Crowley, asks his mother why she hates him. She tells him the truth: That his father was a rich Scotsman, who promised they would be together after she gave birth to his son, however, he then went back to his old life, abandoning her with her newborn son.
As a result, she promised herself that she would never love again, because she saw it as a weakness, which is the reason why she hates her son. She also states that she hates him, because looking into his eyes reminded her of the woman she used to be, before witchcraft. It reminded her of a time when she was just "Rowena, the tanner's daughter, carrying a child I didn't want."
