Officer Doug Lonnie Stover is the Deputy Sheriff in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.
History[]
Doug and Donna were investigating a case where a man in a bunny head killed Stan Hinkle. When the police can't remove the bunny head from Mike Hooks, Sheriff Donna Hanscum asks for the Winchesters help on the case. When they arrive they meet her colleague, Officer Doug Stover. Dean wonders if there's some attraction between her and Doug, who bears the same name as her ex-husband—but Donna denies it.
Donna and Doug are preparing to transport the tranquilized man, Mike Hooks, in the bunny head, to the hospital to get the mask cut off. When Doug offers to help lift him into the car, Donna takes insult to the implication that she'd need Doug's help. She tries to do it herself in an effort to prove herself, but Mike's way heavier than he looks and she falls. Doug then tries to help her to lift him, but before they can get him up her phone rings. Donna turns to take the call from Dean, and while they are distracted, Mike stands up behind them. Doug notices the movement but before they can do anything, Mike pushes Donna aside and hits Doug. Mike then turns and throws the wheelchair aside and he pushes Donna to the ground. He picks up her nightstick and is about to attack her, but Doug shoots him, killing him. As soon as Mike dies, the bunny head falls off and reveals Mike's face. It is later revealed that Mike was possessed by the ghost of Chester Johnson.
Later Doug helps Donna go around town to collect all the costumes that used to belong to Chester. They both then burn all the costumes they collected. Doug approaches her and Donna apologizes for the recent way she's treated him. Doug says he understands, and says that everyone has baggage. He offers to let her call him by his middle name, Lonnie, but Donna says Doug is just fine.
Two years later, after Donna's niece Wendy is kidnapped, Doug accompanies her in investigating Wendy's disappearance. Now dating Donna but unaware of her hunter lifestyle, Doug is surprised to learn that the Winchesters are supposedly related to Donna and by Dean's rough tactics with Marlon. After realizing that the victims have been kidnapped for a monster auction, Donna is forced to tell Doug the truth about what's out there.
When the Winchesters go after the Butterfly, Doug is left to guard Marlon who reveals himself to be a vampire and attacks Doug, turning Doug into a vampire as well. When Dean and Donna return, they are horrified to learn that Doug has been turned. Giving into his new hunger, Doug attacks Donna and attempts to feed on her. However, Dean subdues Doug with dead man's blood and realizes that since Doug has not yet fed, they can cure him. After Donna kneecaps Marlon, Dean is able to get Marlon's blood and Donna later feeds Doug the cure in the backseat of the Impala.
After the case is over, Doug regains consciousness human again. However, Doug is terrified by what he witnessed and went through and refuses to have anything to do with the hunting lifestyle. While Doug became a cop because he likes helping people, fighting monsters is too much for him. Though Doug acknowledges that he loves Donna and that she's "a damn hero," he breaks up with Donna and leaves. Sam tells Donna to let Doug go, feeling that he will only get hurt or killed by being involved in Donna's life.
About a year later, Donna tells Dean that her breakup with Doug has been rough on her. According to Donna, Doug has left the police force and is now working in private security in Duluth.
Powers and Abilities[]
Human[]
As a human, Doug possessed all the regular skills of a person though some were heightened due to his job as a police officer.
- Highly-Developed Investigative Skills - As a police officer, Doug possessed highly-developed investigative skills to the point that Donna enlisted his help in searching for her missing niece. Doug was also able to tell that Donna was not telling the truth about the "copycat killers," but chose not to press the subject.
Vampire[]
During his brief time as a vampire, Doug possessed all of the regular vampire abilities.
- Super Strength - As a vampire, Doug possessed greater strength than a normal human. Doug was easily able to overpower Donna Hanscum.
- Fangs - Vampires possess a set of retractable fangs. Their teeth are superhumanly strong and can rip open a human's neck and leave huge bite marks on the corpse of the victim it has fed on.
- Super Speed - As a vampire, Doug's speed was greater than a regular human.
- Super Agility - Vampires possess amazing agility. They can climb up walls and jump off buildings without hurting themselves.
- Super Senses - Vampires have extremely keen senses that are superior to those of humans. They can see in the dark, hear a human's heart beat, and possess an enhanced sense of smell. A vampire can track a human's blood over long distances.
- Immortality - Vampires can potentially live forever. They can't grow old and don't acquire conventional diseases that affect humans.
- Invulnerability - Vampires can not be killed by conventional methods, such as stab wounds or gunshots.
- Regeneration - As long as they have enough human blood, vampires can heal any wound short of amputation.
- Super Stamina - Vampires possess enhanced stamina.

- Mortality - As a human, Doug was mortal and vulnerable to all forms of harm.
Vampire[]
Doug possessed the normal weaknesses of a vampire.
- Dead Man's Blood - Dean was able to knock Doug out with a dose of dead man's blood.
- Vampire cure - As Doug had not yet fed, Dean was able to cure him of being a vampire.
- Decapitation - As a vampire, Doug could be killed through decapitation.

- Brendan Taylor previously played Man #2 in the Season 8 episode Clip Show. Brendan has also previously done uncredited work as a set dresser on Supernatural.
- Doug coincidentally shares his first name with Donna Hanscum's ex-husband.
- Ironically, he dumped her like her ex-husband though out of fear of her hunter lifestyle rather than because he was a jerk.
