The Donnelly mine was an old abandoned coal mine in the woods outside of Gunnison, Colorado.
History[]
After coal was discovered in the 1950s in the area of virgin forest that would become Gunnison, Colorado, the Donnelly mine was opened to mine the coal. At an unknown point, it was abandoned by humans and became the burrow of a pack of Bisaan.
In 1989, during the second Bisaan cycle, Sheriff Joe Cochran followed a Bisaan to the mine and found the Bisaan dead or dying. After being forced to kill his daughter in self-defense, Cochran lied about what happened in order to keep his secret. As a result, the Bisaan eggs were not destroyed and they continued to exist in the mine for another 27 years.
In 2016, the next Bisaan cycle began with the creatures using the mine as their burrow once more. Eventually, hunters Dean Winchester and Cesar Cuevas tracked the Bisaan back to the mine and killed the males. Sam Winchester and Jesse Cuevas, having learned of its location from Cochran, arrived in time to help deal with Bisaan eggs. Discovering the remains of the Bisaan victims, the hunters chose to pour gasoline in the mine and burn all of the Bisaan and their victims to destroy the Bisaan eggs and give the victims a proper burial. However, the resulting fireball would have been catastrophic to the area if the Cuevas' didn't have a fire extinguisher on them.
After giving Matty Cuevas a Hunter's Funeral, Jesse and Cesar joked about how burning the mine nearly set the whole forest on fire.
