Bobby : You’re Crowley?
Crowley : In the flesh, of a moderately successful Literary Agent out of New York.
— Crowley to Bobby about his vessel while introducing himself
in The Devil You Know

This unnamed man served as the recurring vessel for the crossroads demon and former Ruler of Hell and Ruler of the Crossroads, Crowley.

Background[]

He was a moderately successful literary agent out of New York who came from England.[1] He appears to be of middle-age, possibly mid-to-late-40s.

At some point a Crossroad Demon named Crowley possessed the man and the man became his preferred vessel.

Every time Crowley has left his vessel briefly, his vessel appeared lifeless and motionless. After Castiel was afflicted with the Attack Dog Spell, he stabbed this body repeatedly with an angel blade after Crowley had vacated him to avoid Castiel's attack. This would indicate the vessel's death if it had not been the case by that point. After ensuring his demons had secured the vessel, Crowley later returned to it.[2]

Crowley briefly left this vessel again in order to possess Castiel, who was trapped inside his own body by Lucifer. Crowley somehow managed to carve a message on his vessel's forehead, begging Sam and Dean to help him. After being freed from Castiel/Lucifer's body, Crowley returned to his own.[3]

Later on, Crowley uses the vessel's DNA to bind himself to Lucifer so he can take control of the latter's vessel. The plan backfires when the system used to grant Crowley the controls begins powering up in the opposite direction, granting instead Lucifer control over Crowley's vessel. Lucifer uses his newfound influence to beat on Crowley and seemingly kill him.

The demons present are ordered to drag the body away once Lucifer is done. They bury the body nearby, but Crowley has survived by possessing a rat and follows them. Once the demons are gone, Crowley emerges from the rat and reenters his vessel beneath the ground, digging himself out moments later.

In order to trap Lucifer in an alternate reality, Crowley kills himself with an angel blade. His now vacant vessel is last seen lying on the ground of the alternate reality.
