Clay Thompson was a resident of Sioux Falls who was resurrected as a zombie alongside many other dead residents.

Background

Five years prior to the Apocalypse, Benny Sutton shot a man named Clay James Thompson in the back in a supposed "hunting accident". In 2010, Clay was brought back to life by the horseman Death. Benny, who was watching a documentary about cheetahs, went to investigate a knock on his door and was horrified to see Clay, who proceeded to strangle him to death in revenge. Sam and Dean later investigated the case and found out about Clay. They later went to his house and found out he still seems to act like a regular guy. They still intended to kill him because he was a zombie but were stopped by sheriff Jody Mills. As Sam and Dean continued to investigate, Sam finds out after being attacked by one of the dead, that about 5 days after rising, the dead begin to turn, starting with a fever, hunger and then the killing and eating of anyone around them. Clay became this way and along with many of the other zombies attack Dean and Bobby at Bobby's house. He went after Dean first and tried to kill him. Dean managed to grab his gun and shot Clay in the head, killing him. His body was later burned alongside the other dead zombies in a pyre.
