Overview
History
The Cross became a symbol of the Christian faith after its founder, Jesus Christ, was crucified upon one. While the Roman Catholics design their crosses with the image of a suffering Jesus upon it, Protestants are known to design their crosses without the image of Jesus.
Role
The Cross contains no actual purpose other than to show one's faith in Christianity and Jesus' teachings. Although many believers who use this symbol also worship God, God himself shows no interest in the symbol, as it mostly relates to Jesus, who was said to be a mere human by Eve.
Christians believe the cross can repel evil spirits and dark entities. This seems true in the case of Lucifer, who was burned by a Bible and a cross by making physical contact with them. His own child was also affected, indirectly through his mother, Kelly Kline, while she was pregnant.
Strangely, a cross did not affect Raul, who was an actual demon, while Lucifer was an archangel.
Crosses are used to decorate Churches and worn as accessories. One may even acquire a cross as a tattoo. As seen with Raul, even non-humans bear crosses. Another example is Clea, a witch.
Appearances
- Season 10
- Girls, Girls, Girls (worn as a necklace by Raul)
- Season 11
- Form and Void (a crucifix owned by Jenna's grandmother)
- Hell's Angel (wooden crosses used to exorcise Crowley)
- We Happy Few (worn as a necklace by Clea)
- Season 12
- LOTUS (seen in a Church and as a necklace)
