Carl lived in Neighbor, Michigan and worked as a mailman. He delivered mail to the Tran family's house.
At some unknown point in time Crowley had Carl and several other people affiliated with Linda Tran possessed by demons to keep a lookout for Kevin Tran who he wanted to recapture.
Sam steps out from behind the gate and stabs Carl with the Demon-Killing Knife. Carl, possessed, drops to the ground dead.
