Ben Waters was a banker who committed suicide after repeated calls from his high school sweetheart.
Overview[]
Ben Waters received increasingly mysterious calls in which, according to his wife, Mrs. Waters, he always mentioned Linda's name, but when she picked up another line in the house and wanted to listen, she realized that her husband wasn't actually talking to anyone other than her, I only heard static.
One evening, Ben received another call from a woman named Linda who told him she loved him and asked him to come see her. Sure, Ben seemed to love her too, but he didn't want to leave his wife and Linda should finally stop making these calls.
After several incessant calls in a row, Ben picked up the receiver and banged it on the table until, in desperation, he threw the entire phone on the floor, ripping the plug out of the phone as well. But the silence didn't last long, because a few seconds later, the phone started ringing again. Ben looked horrified at first, but he opened his table drawer and took out a gun. He said Linda had won and he looked at the ceiling before holding the gun to her throat and finally pulling the trigger with the words "I'm coming at you."
