Astral perception or supernatural perception is the ability to perceive what would normally be invisible to humans such as ghosts and reapers. Certain monsters are normally invisible to humans unless they wish to be seen. Some magical sigils are also invisible to humans. Angels can see the true faces of demons in a vessel, and demons can tell if a human is possessed by an angel and can see hellhounds without Hellhound Glasses. Other supernatural beings like deities and fairies possess astral perception as well.

It is possible for humans to gain the ability to see Fairies, and thus a limited form of astral perception, by going to Avalon.

They can see what an angel looks like beneath the vessel that they are possessing.

  • Damned Humans - Can see demons when on the verge of being sent to Hell.
    • ​Dean Winchester - Was able to see Ruby and Lilith's true face when was about to die due to his deal. He was also able to see Fairies.
  • Psychics - To some degree.
    • Pamela Barnes - She could hear Castiel's true voice with no harm, although his true visage caused her eyes to burn out.
  • Witches - Through clairvoyance.
    • Rowena MacLeod - After unblocking her powers, Rowena has shown the ability of seeing Reapers at will.
  • Drunk People - In order to be able to see and hear a Shojo the person must be drunk.
