Overview[]
Heaven and Hell are the two main destinations for deceased humans in the afterlife; however, there is also an area where monsters such as the Leviathan go after they are slain known as Purgatory. As well as The Empty, an endless void in which the souls of both Angels and Demons go to after they have been destroyed.
History[]
The Empty WAS the First to ever exist before everything else including before God AND the Darkness it would become an afterlife for all deceased angels and demons where they would spend the rest of Eternity sleeping and Dreaming of there biggest regrets
Heaven: God created the original Heaven, after locking up the Darkness. The Angels and demons believed The Darkness to be a myth. God, the Archangels and Angels were happy until Lucifer rose up against God. He was banished from Heaven for after starting a civil war and refusing to bow to humans and corrupting Lilith. God left due to Gadreel's failure to prevent his first perfect humans from sinning. As the General, Michael had an immoveable grip on Heaven for millennias. After the Team Free Will defeated The Apocalypse, Heaven was sent into a spiral and Castiel the Seraphim took up arms against Raphael. Godstiel dominated the entirety of Heaven, until returning the souls to Purgatory. Over time, Heaven was left in a broken state, splitted factions vying for control. Naomi was a primary player and held significant control over the factions and wanted the Angel Tablet so Crowley couldn't close the gates of Heaven. Metatron enhances himself with the Angel Tablet and ruled unquestionably, expelling all angels out with a spell, causing them to lose their wings. The hierarchy became more distorted and were essentially leaderless for large portions of time. The Darkness attacks Heaven with darkness to get God's attention. With Duma as one of the last remaining contenders, she took it upon herself to take a leader role in Heaven, and The Shadow came for Jack under her watch. Jack, as the new God, created the new Heaven.
Hell: After Lucifer created demons, God created Hell as a place of punishment and tortument for demons and evil souls. Hell has many levels, with The Cage being the worst part in all of Hell. Lilith ruled over regular Hell until God banished her to the deepest pits in Hell, and heir to the throne Yellow Eyed Demon Azazel took over. Alastair tortured countless souls over the years, and from civilization to civiliation, people would sell their souls to Crossroads demons in exchange for wealth and power. Azazel searches the expanses of the world for Lucifer's Cage at great lengths until he count the mouth of the cage. He was instructed to free Lilith to break the 66 Seals and to find not just a special child but a very Special Child to be the True Vessel of Lucifer. After selling his soul to resurrect his brother Sam, Dean tries to resist Hell but is dragged down to it and is saved by the angel Castiel and his garrison. Lilith takes massive control over the armies of Hell and breaks the 66 Seals to free Lucifer, which starts Judgement Day. Lucifer takes absolute dominion over Hell until his defeat by the Winchesters, then Crowley becomes the King of Hell for an extended and prolonged period of time. After Abaddon resurfaces from a time portal, she does everything she can to take the throne away from Crowley and takes a substantial chunk out of his following. The Darkness's release moderately damages the Cage, but not enough for Lucifer to escape. After Crowley's demise, the position is empty and Sam abolishes it and threatens the demons to never anoint a new king or otherwise he will destroy them. After Sam tries to kill Him with The Equalizer, He loses his temper and completely rips open Hell.
Purgatory: God created Purgatory to contain the Leviathans and their all-consuming hunger. He created the Archangels to battle The Darkness. Eve was born into Purgatory and was a Leviathan-like creature. Leviathans killing each other caused the Leviathan blossoms to grow next to their corpses, which God used as part of the spell to lock up The Darkness. Purgatory became the destination for monster souls in death. Over the years, Purgatory went by many names and was feared by all. Castiel was looking for Purgatory to absorb all the souls to defeat Raphael, but it's power was uncontrollable and he returned them after killing Raphael and causing incalculable damage in Heaven, releasing the Leviathans. The Leviathans used their slimy intelligence and unparalleled strength to try to turn the United States into a feeding ground and killed off competing predators, however Sam and Dean were able to design the one and only weapon that can kill truly them The Bone Of A Righteous Mortal Washed in The Three Bloods of The Fallen. The head Leviathan Dick's death resulted in dragging his killers Dean and Castiel to Purgatory with him. In one of the scariest places to exist, Castiel was terrified and said they were most likely get ripped to shreds and teleported away. A hardened Dean doubles down on his hunting skills to survive, kill all types of monsters. He forms an alliance and allyship with vampire Benny who shows him a way out, but Castiel couldn't cross the mortal, as it was only made for humans. Dean barely escapes, with Benny's soul in his arm. Ajay sends Sam to Purgatory to complete The Second Trial by going to Hell and delivering a soul unto Heaven, however, Benny has Dean re-kill him to send him back to Purgatory to rescue Sam. Benny stays behind, as Sam uses the portal to escape. To gather the ingredients to trap a weakened Chuck with the Primordial Entity Cage Spell, they go to Purgatory to collect a Leviathan Blossom, however they run into Leviathans who serve the Mother of All Eve. They're able to make it out alive.
